Game Day Thread: Tampa Bay Lightning @ Boston Bruins

Bolts vs Bears

It’s the last game of the regular season! And in a possible playoff preview, the opponent is the Lightning. And these two teams have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO PLAY FOR!
Drink it in, folks!

Today is the last home game of the season, and therefore it is fan appreciation day.

The favorite part of this is typically the “Shirts off Our Backs” ceremony where each player on the roster gives their jersey to a lucky fan after the game.

Obviously some jerseys are more sought after than others.
Also, pre-game end-of-year awards.

The Atlantic Division standings are now officially locked in. The Bruins have 107 points, clinching 2nd place in the division, remaining in 3rd place league-wide. Tampa Bay have clinched the President’s Trophy with 126 points. Toronto is now 8 points behind Boston, – and have clinched 3rd place – with 1 games remaining. Montreal is officially out of the playoffs, with Columbus moving ahead by 2 points & holding the tiebreakerof 3 ROW.

With their playoff seedings all locked up, the Bruins rested a bunch of players last game, giving Zdeno Chara, Charlie McAvoy, David Krejci & Brad Marchand a day off. They will surely rest a different set of players today. The player rest day & injuries resulted in a first-time callup of Zach Senyshen, who played fairly well, and scored an empty net goal.

The lines are somewhat surprising today.

Sean Kuraly and John Moore are still injured, but previously injured Torey Krug, Marcus Johansson, Kevan Miller and Matt Grzelcyk are all back in the lineup. Chris Wagner is dealing with a lower body injury, and even though he played on Tuesday, is getting tonight off. Karson Kuhlman has seen a few games in a middle-six role while Kuraly has been out, and the long-awaited debut of Zach Senyshen continues. John Moore has an arm injury and is out week-to-week. Also in the lineup are Connor Clifton, Trent Frederic, Jeremy Lauzon, and Anton “ain’t got time to” Blidh.

As with last game, lots of players are getting the day off – including Krug and Carlo

Tuukka Rask will be in net.

Tonight’s opponent are the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bruins faced the Lightning 3x already, losing to them in March at Amalie Arena, beating them 4-1 at the TD garden in February, and losing 2-3 in Tampa in early December. This will be the final meeting between the two teams, and the final match of the season. Tampa is still in first place in the entire NHL. They have won 3 games out of their last 6, and have an insane goal differential of +100. There are a few injuries to their current roster, with Louis Domingue & Dan Girardi out. Victor Hedman has missed a couple of games and will be held out today. Tampa isn’t saying so, but scuttlebutt says he has a concussion – he has had concussion issues in the past.

I thought he was going to say “You’re going home with Sean Kuraly” and I got very very jealous.
