Last night was a wild ride to start the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Bolts took an early 3-0 lead in the first period, then watched as the Blue Jackets slowly scored goal after goal until they finally took the lead. That’s right, Columbus scored four unanswered goals against Tampa Bay to win the game. CBJ defenseman, Seth Jones, scored the game winning goal. Sergei Bobrovsky looked horrid in the first period but went on to save the remaining 16 shots against him.
Playing at the old Nassau Coliseum, the Isles scored first, then the Penguins scored. They basically went back and forth until the teams were tied and required overtime. Josh Bailey scored the game winner for the Islanders.

In Winnipeg, the Blues outlasted the Jets to take a 1-0 series lead. The sole goal scorer for Winnipeg was Patrik Laine; this goal was good enough for the lead for two periods. David Perron tied it up, Tyler Bozak scored the go ahead goal at 17:55 in the third.

The Preds took an early lead on a goal by captain Roman Josi but the Stars came back with two goals by Miro Heiskanen and a third by Mats Zuccarello to take a 3-1 lead. PK Subban scored another goal but Nashville fell, 3-2.
As for the late game in San Jose, the Sharks had taken a 3-1 lead over the Golden Knights through two periods. And then I needed to go to bed.
All of this is great, but there is only one game that matters and it is being played tonight. The Bruins will take on their renewed rivalry against the Maple Leafs at the TD Garden at 7pm.
It begins.

I got home a little late from work last night and walked right into a fight breaking out in the CBJ-TBL game.

After watching that first period I was pretty bummed out about Columbus’s odds to make a series out of that, but they kept the Bolts from getting shots on net, and came back in the 3rd.
Now it’s our turn!

I don’t think I can handle the stress of the Bruins in the playoffs
So much excite!
I am SOOOO EXCITED
See you at the Garden tonight, kids! I CANNOT WAIT
I want to go to a playoff game!!! Has to be found two, at least!!! Jo has never been to a playoff game…. the intensity in the Garden!!!!!
Last playoff game I went to was game 7 vs Carolina in 2010…. I’d like to wash the taste of that one out of my mouth.
Oh man, fuck that game
Make enough noise for all of us!
You may not be surprised to know that I come equipped with an Irish whisper. NO PROBLEMO.
Hey hockey pals!
Merry Hockey Christmas!

The playoffs are here!
Morning all. Certainly a wake up call for Tampa if they thought they were going to coast through the playoffs.
I hope that at the very least, Columbus makes it a long and physical series.
I hope Columbus kicks their ass!!! I’d take my chances with the jack its.
Hi all.
Feels like ages since I watched any hockey! Looking forward to this.
Sounds like Tampa clocked off for the night after the first period. CBJ only scored 3 goals against them in the whole regular season! Anything can happen in the playoffs!
Lovely family visit to the V&A museum yesterday (not VA museum, sorry). A bit of history, bit of art, bit of fashion. Good stuff.
So, what does V & A signify??
It’s Victoria and Albert (as in Queen Victoria). Prince Albert was quite into museums and building design apparently.
Okay, thanks.
Well worth a visit if you’re ever in London!
That….that actually could be a VA museum!
Hey All!
Wow! Some opening night, eh? Stayed up for the end of Sharks – Knights…. I know, why am I awake???
Because I need more boating!!! Sleep afterward, until game time!!!
