Morning Free Association: WTF is Happening?

This years version of the Stanley Cup Playoffs is completely bonkers. Already two first round series are finished within a span of four games with the Lightning and the Penguins packing up and going home for the summer. Perhaps the Islanders are not too much of a surprise given their climb to the top of the Metropolitan in the regular season even when everyone had them pegged as cellar dwellers. But Columbus winning in four games after spotting the Lightning the first three goals in the first period of Game 1 and then never not leading for the rest of the series is impressive.

The Bruins have to win now. This is their easiest path. Blow away the Leafs.

Tonight, the Bruins could have both Marcus Johansson and John Moore back in the lineup if they feel good after morning skate.

And Sean Kuraly is getting closer to a return.

Help us Obi Sean Kuraly, you’re our only hope.

Help us Obi Sean Kuraly

In the meantime, the NHL has announced the game time for Fridays tilt at the Garden.

Other Bruins News:

Two Bruins prospects are traveling in opposite directions within the organization.

Jack Studnicka has gone pro and is Providence bound. He should bolster the playoff lineup and gain valuable experience.

Jesse Gabrielle is in the process of having his contract terminated.

Trouble started brewing last season when he was sent from Providence back to his WHL team for an overage season. This season, the Boston Bruins declined to invite him to training camp. Gabrelle was sent down to the Bruins AHL affiliate, the Atlanta Gladiators, then assigned to the Wichita Thunder, another ECHL team.

Cap Friendly suggests that it could either be a case breach of contract or mutually decided contract termination.

Hey hockey pals!

I love playoff hockey. Everything is happening and it’s ridiculous. Hopefully we are not victims of ridiculous happenings anytime soon.

– top line needs to get it together
– maybe move Pasta alongside Krejci?
– heinen on top line
– MoJo on third
– tuukka looking fine

I agree with all that. Let’s telepathically send those ideas to Butch.

Happy hump day, all!

Anyone who isn’t in the Tampa area and is displeased with how the Bolts-Jackets series turned out has no soul.

One of my friends is upset because the Bolts didn’t do what the spreadsheet predicted, and I wanna ask her DO YOU EVEN REMEMBER 2012?!

Here’s hoping the Bruins can tie up the series. I would LOVE to be able to face Columbus.

I’m sitting on the bus next to some normal people. This is important to say because yesterday the only sear available turned out to be next to a guy who I thought was sleeping, but then it turned out he had probably just passed out drunk and when he came to he pulled a can of black beans out of his pocket, pulled the top, and then drank/ate them.

Good for him I guess, thinking of getting protein into his diet but I had to move elsewhere cause I was afraid he’d spill it on me.

2012 conference quarter finals also had 16 ot games!!! Devils were the lowest seed to ever have home ice in the SCF. Kings won the Cup in just 20 games!! No, I don’t recall it.

Ha ha! Yes, but they were also the 8th seed in the West, and only qualified at the very end of the season. “What’s the point of aspiring to be the best over 82 games if you can’t even buy a bounce in the playoffs.” Probably because you can’t quantify luck.

I literally don’t remember 2012, except the Pens-Flyers series and that that’s when we established the Q-word.

This was when the Kings were the 8th seed in the West and then won the Stanley Cup

That happened to me before. It’s all tightly rolled up in shrink wrap and in a narrow box. It’s like an oversized can of biscuits.

Mine was only a Full sized mattress at least.

Please check in within the hour so we all know you’re ok! wink

Morning all.

I contend that Columbus sweeping THAT Lightning team is perhaps a bigger shock than Vegas making the cup final last year. As an odds-and-chances guy I think it’s on a par.

Anyone still in will be thinking they can win the Cup now. Hopefully the Bruins will play like they belive it tonight.

Morning all. Wow, Columbus. Well done. Have all the “Bobrovsky was on the case!” jokes been made yet? Yes, okay, cool.

Personally I enjoy those jokes and am here for them, unless we play them!

If we do get there, telling him to leave his gun and badge on the desk and get outta here would be really something.

Hi!!
Bruins need to have it together tonight!l. Moore will help, although I thought Kampfer player well. Zee had some troubles… he needs to stay away from that clearing lob. Just be strong on the puck, bro!!! You are fucking huge.
The thing we don’t know is, how banged up are the players. Toronto thinks that key Bruins are playing hurt and they are targeting those guys. Bruins need to beat up some of their guys ( *cough* Marner,*cough*).
I’ll be on the ice tonight!!! Get it done!!l

Yep, got to fight fire with fire. If they think they can rough up our skilled guys we’ve got to rough up theirs.
