Morning Free Association: It’s a Seven Game Series

So what were the Bruins up to this weekend?

Well, on Friday night, they were busy losing Game 5 at the TD Garden. That game was memorable not for any real heroics but rather a now infamous non-call.

Yes, after two and a half periods of a scoreless game, the refs couldn’t determine through their many camera angles that Zach Hyman pushed himself into Tuukka Rask, causing him to be unable to reset in time for Auston Matthews shot. After Tuukka complained to the refs and Bruce Cassidy challenged, the refs and more importantly the Situation Room in Toronto couldn’t determine that it was clearly interference.

Poor Tuukka screwed again in the playoffs by stupid refs.

The momentum regained, it was easy for the Leafs to score again and win the game.

That made Sunday’s Game 6 the most important game of the year for the Boston Bruins. They won it despite some terrible calls going against them.

How many ways can the refs screw the B’s, let’s recount the ways.

First, at 5:21 of teh first period, Zdeno Chara was penalized for Delay of Game for the puck presumably going over the glass in the defensive zone. The only problem is that it didn’t, it went into the Bruins bench. Even Brian Boucher who was between the benches for NBC said he almost was hit by the puck as it went into the bench.

The refs didn’t even bother going over to the bench to talk to Cassidy.

The penalty was killed by the Bruins.

Next, at 12:37 in the first, Joakim Nordstrom was slew-footed by Jake Gardiner and didn’t have enough courtesy toward his aggressor to keep his stick down. He called for a Hi-Sticking penalty. Did they both go to the box? Fuck no.

Again, the B’s killed off the penalty.

The last obvious blown call went against Charlie Coyle for what can be called a stick tap to the shin but that the refs elevated to murder “Tripping”. Still the Bruins killed it off. The Maple Leafs had three power play opportunities to the Bruins two and guessed who capitalized on them. The Bruins PK was excellent because my boy

My Boy

led the team with 3:27 in short-handed time on ice while having an excellent game.

He didn’t rate as one of the three stars of the game.

So many calls didn’t go their way, but the Bruins made it work. After Toronto scored first, the B’s came back to score three unanswered goals, two on the power play (Marchand, Krug) and one at even strength through excellent teamwork.

Auston Matthews scored in the third to bring the Leafs to within one. However, Marchy decided to be the hero we all needed and deserved on Easter Sunday.

Bruins fans rejoiced!

It’s do or die on Tuesday.

LFG!

The bridges overhead got a lil crowded with gawkers, traffic was backing up, one dude wanted to call the newspaper – “I’ve never seen anyone attempt this before, even at low water.” No paper, we like to fly under the radar! !!
A couple crazy waves to surf in there. Soul cleansing!!!!

Morning, hockey pals!

How are we feeling about game 7? I feel good. Cautiously good. The Bruins were good yesterday. Like, very good. That Tuukka guy was fantastic.

Morning all. Always has to be a game 7 with these two.

He didn’t rate as one of the three stars of the game.

I voted for Carlo for the Bruins Player of the Game Twitter poll. I know the popular choice was Marchand but Carlo was pretty damn good. There’s a reason he had almost 30 minutes of ice time.

Hey Pals !
Wow! What a game!!!! Ummm, hey Bruins, could you possibly play like that at home???? Except for that “Katy, bar the door” shit (creds to Fred Cusack) in the third…. Yo! Just keep doing what got you out in front in the first place!!!!! After 100+ years of playoff hockey, why is this still a mystery??? It ain’t rocket surgery, er, whatever..
Okay, I’m good now…. as long as the Bruins can Make It a tad less dramatic than 2013.. Yeah, that was great but, I’d have less grey hair, if they could get it done early and coast home…. You know the Leafs are doubting themselves, a present.
I think a cup of calming herbal tea is in order!!!

I could do with a little less stress I suppose, but we all knew it was going to go down like this.
7 game series, Leafs outperform, Tuukka starts out slow, etc.
Now can the Bruins win that game 7?

My beard literally has more gray hair than it used to. I’ll just blame work and the Bruins for that. I’m certainly not aging.
