Morning Free Association: Eastern Conference Champs

HOLY CRAP, GUYS! THE BRUINS HAVE WON THE EASTERN CONFERENCE AND ARE ON THEIR WAY TO THE STANLEY CUP FINAL! THEY TOTALLY SWEPT THE HURRICANES!

The shots on goal totals were low in each period, with the Bruins ultimately being outshot 24-23. However, 4 shots counted above the others:

David Pastrnak on the power play

Patrice Bergeron also on the power play

Perfect Patrice, this time at even strength

And Brad Marchand on an empty net

Tuukka saved all 24 SOG to preserve his shutout.

Zdeno Chara was scratched for this game with an injury that keeps him day-to-day. However, he suited up for the victory celebration and Prince of Wales trophy, which went untouched.

Rod Brind’Amour is all grace and class!

Hooray!

We want the Cup!

McAvoy should have hand-passed in front of McElhinney’s net.
It’s apparently legal now

The Blues were pretty unlucky there, eh? Those officials are done for the year apparently.

And after that snarky comment, Wes MacCauley’s crew whistled the Canes ~4 times for hand passes. lol

I had over a few people to watch the game. We all remarked how it felt like a regular season game. The Canes we done. Game 3’s loss reduced them to a strong breeze, and a strong breeze will knock down a big bear.

Morning all. Hey Bruins, Alex Cora and I have a simple request if you would be so kind:

Hi folks.

What a performance! The Bs are getting better and better! I wonder if they’ve already engraved Tuukka’s name on the Conn Smythe…

Bagel highlighted on Twitter the Canes fans applauding their team for the last minute rather than sit silent. Classy move from them. See, Toronto, it’s possible to lose with grace!

At the start of the playoffs I thought the Bs had absolutely no chance. Toronto-Tampa-Washington looked an impossible trifecta to me! Ha!

Looks like sleep is going to have to take a back seat for a couple of weeks!

There have been some great under dog stories during these playoffs with Columbus and the Canes.

I thought that was pretty classy from the ‘Canes fans.
I think of the 3 fanbases we’ve interacted with this postseason, the Canes fans were the least prone to the poor sportsmanship nonsense (“the Bruins are dirty“, “Why hasn’t Marchand been suspended“, “the refs are trying to fix the game“, etc.).

I have to wonder if that is due to them not being completely invested in the team, or if they are just a lot more level headed, or whatever. After dealing with the TOR fans losing their effing minds for 2 years in a row, it has been a pleasant surprise.

They knew the Bruins were better. It’s hard to talk smack when you can’t win. If the Canes were better, like in 2009, it would have been another story.

Hi Pals!!!
All the feels this morning!!! Chara was like a proud papa bear during the celly!!! I’m glad Moore and Kampfer were able to chip in, and as for Clifton, that boy should not ever have to go back to Providence. Good to see the Noeldozer back, albeit at Wagner’s expense.
Hopefully, the boys get just the right amount of rest…. I think after three rounds of very intense hockey, it’s a good thing!!!
Off to play some disc golf with number two son. Check in wit youse later.
