Morning Free Association: Practice Makes…

Zdeno Chara was sidelined for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals with some kind of injury. As to what it is, it’s anybody’s guess.

This weekend, he was spotted skating with Steven Kampfer prior to practice at Warrior Arena. Chara did not skate with the group. On Monday, that changed.

Zdeno Chara skated during Monday’s practice and spoke to the media afterward.

Bruce Cassidy said that Chara looked good and would be evaluated tomorrow, the team’s off day, for soreness.

Hopefully, he’s good to go for the Stanley Cup Final begins in Boston in 6 days.

Hi Pals!!!!
I really like (bromance) Bruce Cassidy!!! His demeanour, his philosop on getting the guys ready, and his ability to keep the media calm. It seems like he manages the media, as well as the team.
I am exhausted from the weekend. I need to sleep for a day or two to catch up!! If you haven’t heard from me by Monday, call Jo!!!

Bromance, baby!comment image

Cassidy is a lot better than I expected after reading about the train wreck from his time on the Caps

Yup!!! He’s paid his dues, learned his lessons, and has a great handle on what the team needs from him.

Hi all,

it occurred to me this morning that the day the Finals start I’m going to a remote cottage in the Scottish Highlands for a week! God, I hope it’s got WiFi!!

Did Z block a shot with his foot or something during that game? My memory is hazy.

GB did it! Despite falling 3-0 down after conceding twice in six seconds they won in OT to register their first win in the elite level of the tournament since 1951! Well done guys. Shame it’s received absolutely no media attention over here …

Yeah, they’re off to Switzerland next year. Amazingly, so are Italy (from the other round robin group) who had scored ONE goal in six games prior to beating Austria yesterday!

Are you telling me that they play ice hockey in GB???? Whoa!!! Mind blown!!

Well someone does, evidently, haha! I was talking to one o the other school dads yesterday – a Czech guy – and he was saying how amazing it was given that he doesn’t know any Brits who can ice skate. They’re competing with people from countries where you start skating before you can walk. It’s just incredible.

Yup, friends with newborns are trying to put their kids on skates….. Hint, they should be able to walk first!

And maybe let their craniums fully form!

A remote cottage in the Scottish Highlands sounds dreamy!!! I would miss the SCF for that (need a sub? smile ). When i’m up in the hills, i don’t miss anything!
