Morning Free Association: Game 4

Last night, the Bruins fell to the Blues, 4-2. I know, it’s the identical score as the opening game in Boston but it was a different game.

First of all, the refs swallowed their whistles for the first period unless it was icing. In fact, there were far more icings called than actual infractions. In the second, they started calling penalties for things that were legal in the first.

Despite there being 5 power plays in total (3 for the Blues, 2 for the Bruins), no goals were scored with the man advantage.

First Period:

The Bruins did not have a great start to the game. Virtually right off the bat, they gave up a goal when Ryan O’Reilly wrapped the puck around the net and got one past Tuukka with 43 seconds elapsed.

It took most of the period, but Grandma Kelly’s favorite NHL player, Charlie Coyle, netted his ninth goal of these playoffs at 13:14.

Grandma Kelly had the cowbell ready.

The period ended up with ugliness. With the Bruins having difficulty keeping the puck out of their own zone, Tuukka Rask allowed an unfortunate rebound on an Alex Pietrangelo shot that led to a quick Vladimir Tarasenko goal at 15:30.

Second Period:

Chara took a puck to the face 3:07 into the period. Went back to room for repairs.

Coyle called for hi-stick. Penalty killed

Colton Parayko was sent off to the box for delay of game. Bruins almost allowed a short handed goal by Ryan O’Reilly

Clifton sent off for illegal check to the head after a 3 minute plus shift

BRANDON CARLO SCORED A SHORT-HANDED GOAL TO TIE IT UP!

Third Period:

The only problem is that Chara wouldn’t come out to play a shift once he came back to the bench.

Brad did a Brad thing. And Binnington continued in the fine tradition of Blues diving.

Ryan O’Reilly again at 10:38.

Finally, Brayden Schenn nailed the coffin shut on the Bruins with an empty net goal. Toward the ned of the third, it looked as if the Bruins knew they were defeated and needed to focus on Game 5 on Thursday. Despite letting in 3 goals, Tuukka Rask still had a .919 save percentage, better than Binnington’s .913.

Let’s duct tape Chara together and be ready for Thursday, guys!

Brandon Carlo is way too tall to score a shorty!

I find it fascinating that people were asking about Tuukka’s performance last night in the post-game presser, but what about the fact that the Bruins only got 23 shots on net?

Oh well, 2-2 is not a bad place to be.

Halak would have an assist on the game winner, if they’d just let him play!!!

Morning all. Blah, but onwards and upwards!

Had a dream I was trying to get away from a serial killer and then was in Australia. Needless to say, I am quite tired this morning.

Isn’t Australia where one goes to find a serial killer?

Hey all,

I’m back from the land of haggis, tartan and no internet! Spent most of yesterday catching up with the first three games. What a rough n tumble series – proper old-time stuff! Very enjoyable.

Maybe a bit simplistic to call it a goaltender duel, but Binnington has given up some softies in the matches the Bs have won, while last night Tuukka’s rebound control wasn’t exactly what we’re used to from him. I’m confident in the Bs though – overall they’ve look the stronger team.

Poor old Chara’s been in the wars! But maybe we’ll get Bubble Chara for game 5. Imagine that!

What up, my ninjas????
Tha Bruins missed a golden opportunity last night! That game was up for grabs and the Bruins never really reached for it. Oh, Tuukka did his part and the boys were okay….. but they needed to be better and weren’t. I have been afraid to mention Ryan O’Reilly. He’s won a lot of faceoffs, but wasn’t a huge factor before last night…. Areally don’t need to see him warm up. Sonofabitch couldn’t put tne puck in the ocean when he was on my fantasy team…. *grumble, mutter#\=$@!!, grumble*

Hahaha! I quite like O’Reilly but that has a lot to do with how good the digital version of him was for me in the NHL Playstation game.

Hey, I saw a lot of fast-moving water last week. Some of it didn’t look very deep but we did see a few cars with kayaks strapped to the roof.
