Morning Free Association: NHL Awards (Gritty Edition)

Let’s start this morning off the right way, with a Bergygram from the man himself at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas.

Yes, Perfect Patrice is nominated yet again for the Selke Trophy as best defensive forward for the umpteenth time. A win would make him the owner of the most Selke wins since the award was created. He’s up against Ryan O’Reilly and Mark Stone for the trophy. We all know that neither of them need this award, no matter how good they were.

Bruins GM Don Sweeney is also nominated for General Manager of the Year. He’s up against Doug Armstrong (St. Louis Blues) and Don Waddell (Carolina Hurricanes). Seeing that he made an impressive set of moves at the trade deadline resulting in roster depth for a deep playoff run, he could edge out Doug Armstrong. We’ll have to see tonight.

If you watch tonight (I can’t imagine why you would) you might catch a glimpse of everyone’s favorite boyfren, Gritty. I’m sure he’s going to do something appropriately Grittyesque.

So, hopefully a couple of Bruins win tonight and we all win if Gritty does.

I don’t know! I mean, the spare is 22 years old. I shouldn’t be surprised

Hey hockey pals.

  • I usually don’t watch the awards but I’m having dinner at heather’s and we will be watching them.
  • We planned to do dinner and awards last night but right before I was going to leave for her house, she texted me to tell me we got the night wrong. Oops.
  • Stick and puck on Saturday. Haven’t played in over a year and I’m afraaaaaaid. TALK SENSE INTO ME, STRIPES!

I sort of feel obligated to watch it, but my guess is that Bergy will get screwed.

Morning all. Bergy and Gritty would be the only reason I’d watch. But then again won’t be home anyway.

    Hi Pals!!!
Double last night… Commiserated with some fellow Bruin fans, took a little ribbing from Ranger fans, who have their high draft pick to brag about.
Note to Sis… I just found the check you sent me back in December!!! I used it for a bookmark, then got bored with the book! Let’s just forget it, eh?

I picked it up again last night, as i finished a good one. The writer is Peruvian…. I think they have their own language!

Saw someone saying they’re expected to get Kaapo Kakko, who was fantastic for Finland in the Worlds. He’s NHL ready right away.
