News broke on Saturday morning that Bruins trade deadline acquisition and half of the Swedish House Mafia, UFA Marcus Johansson signed with Buffalo. While it’s not surprising that he was signed within the first full week of free agency, what is surprising is that it took nearly five days and that the term and money was reasonable.
We have signed forward Marcus Johansson to a two-year contract with an AAV of $4.5 million. pic.twitter.com/l4WcIEyb1j

Yeah, $4.5 million against the cap. It’s less than what he made last year. It was a totally affordable amount that the Bruins currently couldn’t afford. well, they could afford it if they knew they could shed the David Backes contract before the start of the season and perhaps shave off some more money off the cap. Don Sweeney doesn’t want to do that while he’s negotiating deals with his RFAs McAvoy, Carlo, and Heinen. Donny’s got a degree in Economics from Harvard, so I’m sure he’ll figure it all out.
We’ll miss you on that third line with Charlie, Mojo Jojo.
In other news: On Friday afternoon, word came that Danton Heinen was going to arbitration as he’s eligible and a deal between the two camps was not struck. I would bet that a deal will happen just prior to the meeting with the arbitrator.
