The Boston Bruins season couldn’t have started faster or better. While some of us dummies were trying too be clever, engaging a few people in conversation about who would score the first Bruins goal of the season, Brett Ritchie said, “I got this” and lit the lamp 69 seconds into the season.

In the meantime, Brandon Carlo decides to prove that he’s going to be one of the best shutdown defensemen in the league by being more “assertive” (jack’s word, not mine) by aggressively picking a guys pocket and taking a shot.

Just before the 6 minute mark, Danton Heinen shows why he’s a player to watch this season. He’s got fire.

Tuukka made great saves perhaps none better than this in the first period. The only time he was really pressured.

A scary moment in the second, the Stars’ Roman Polak collided with the boards in the corner after defending Chris Wagner. He was taken off in a stretcher. You hate to see it, no matter who it is.

After play resumed, it didn’t take long for Dallas to rebound and score in a situation when the Bruins didn’t have enough defenders back to thwart the effort. Roope Hintz made the score 2-1, Bruins.

In the third, no one scored. Part of this was excellent defense on each side, including the one penalty kill in the third when Zdeno Chara was in the penalty box for interference.

Tuukka was on point tonight, able to see everything unfolding in front of him on the ice. He made some great saves like he was in mid-season form. Tuukka stopped 28 of 29 shots.

The last frame became hectic with players clogging the ice. In the final 90 seconds,Ben Bishop left the net allowing for the extra skater and all sorts of chaos erupted. Still, the Bruins held. Chris Wagner blocked a shot with an arm (you’d think he’d learn) and he almost had an empty net goal, missing by a fraction of a second.

The Boston Bruins won their first game of the season on the road. The next game is on Saturday evening in Arizona.

The only team more fun/terrible than Worchester might be the Danbury Hattricks of the Federal League. If anyone wants to come see them, let me know. We’ll open the spa!!

Morning friends. Wanted to watch the game last night, but NHL.TV had it blocked out because apparently El Paso is a Stars market. Growl.

Glad for a win.

I know some people want to do the right thing, but I have gone for piracy. The stream is just as good and it’s free. NHL.tv can go and do inappropriate things with inappropriate body parts.

Bruins fans are blessed with a man called PastaVision on Youtube. He just streams the games on there, but you have to find his secret link in Reddit gameday threads

I’ve got NHL tv but I go for reddit when there’s a blackout. Sorry PremierSports, but I’m not paying you to watch something I’ve already paid someone else for!

For me the great value of NHLtv, though, is the ability to watch on demand. Last night’s game started at 1.30am (probably later) but I’ve watched it this morning.

I should do this, too. But I like watching on my TV. I keep my big monitor in my office.

I’ve watched his stream before – It is excellent quality.

I think it’s a different link every time, so that he doesn’t get shut down but it usually appears in the game thread on reddit (along with quite a few others):

The stream provided by the Boston Bruins reddit is much better

He changes the link every day so he won’t get caught, but it can be found in the game day threads here

https://www.reddit.com/r/BostonBruins/

Usually, it is hidden as a hyperlink on the NESN logo within game day threads

Morning all. Of course Ritchie would score the first goal. Absolutely hilarious.

So for all of you guys who said Brett Ritchie would score the Bruins first goal of the season… STFU, no-one had Brett Ritchie scoring first.

Of course, Ritchie with goal uno. Tuukka was great. Thought he looked extrs sharp in the third, but Tuukka winning in October…..awesome!
Carlo!!!! I hope he’s a Bruin for life. There will be Norris in his trophy room before it’s over.

Hi folks,

Interesting, entertaining game. They should come on from that. A few players looked a bit rusty. We won thanks to secondary scoring and Tuukka in October! Excellent. The Stars are going to be a playoff team at least, I’d expect, so that’s a strong start.

Love that Ritchie took a minute to score against his old club.
Elsewhere, Trouba had a three-point night against the Jets, which also made me laugh.

Where was that #BANG idiot?

I was not prepared for Vezina-caliber Tuukka in October. That was awesome.
