Morning Free Association: Finding Their Game

Having won their first two games of the season with a combined 3 goals, the Bruins are hoping to shake the rust off their offensive game tonight in Vegas. The Golden Knights in their third season are still a speedy team with great scoring capability, outscoring the San Jose Sharks, their sole opponents thus far in the season, 9-2. Bruce Cassidy believes that the stout and stingy defense of the Bruins can handle them.

Matt Grzelcyk says that the D want to jump in more to the scoring.

One thing is for sure, the forwards need to find their game by lighting the lamp more often to support they excellent goaltending. One issue might be that several veterans didn’t play much if at all in preseason after a short summer that was spent recuperating from various injuries. It’s not their fault; it’s senseless to play this group in that way when it’s the younger players that need evaluation. It just might take a little while to see the top line as we’re used to it.

It’s a guessing game as to who will play tonight on the 4th line. Yesterday’s practice lines saw Par Lindholm and Sean Kuraly platooning at center with David Backes practicing at right wing. Backes will likely play because the Golden Knights have a lot of big bodies, some of which really like to hit and sometimes play punchy face. At center will be whomever Cassidy decides will fit better; Lindholm has a better face-off percentage and is a decent penalty killer while Kuraly has size, speed, and a history of big goals. Cassidy said he’ll make a decision after morning skate.

One thing is for sure: Tuukka is in net tonight.

At long last, Joakim Nordstrom has been medically cleared to play. Cassidy said that based upon his inability to practice fully and having had no game experience this preseason, Nordstrom needs more time to practice. He could factor in on Thursday.

Tonight’s game is a 10pm start on NESN.

Hey All!
Late night double last night, late double tonight. Off the ice by midnight, then try to stay awake driving home!! I’ll have to watch the replay when i get home.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Lindholm get a lil ice time.
