Morning Free Association: Readying for Detroit

After an off-day on Wednesday, the team was back practicing at Warrior Arena in Brighton. As expected Zach Senyshyn was “recalled” from Providence and so was Peter Cehlarik, making Cameron Hughes assignment to Providence the real deal. Cehlarik was called up to play in place of Jake DeBrusk, who is currently ailing with a lower body injury sustained during the game against Montreal. Obviously he’s not traveling with the team to Detroit.

“Played through the game the other night…woke up yesterday not feeling great,” said Cassidy. “He’s had that checked out and continues to get it checked out. Will not travel with us. Will Probably have a much better idea when we get a medical report.”

Senyshyn will be back on the third line with Anders Bjork and Charlie Coyle centering them. That line had some chemistry the other night and look to build on that.

The defense tonight will have a new look: Charlie McAvoy going to pair with his old buddy and defensive partner from Boston University, Matt Grzelcyk, in hopes to free up McAvoy’s offense some more. Connor Clifton will be playing alongside the captain, Zdeno Chara. We’ve actually seen some tease of a McAvoy-Grzelcyk pairing in game at times this season, so getting a better look at that will be good. As for Cliffy, working with Chara will be a good thing as Papa Bear likes to work with his cubs with less pro experience to get them on track.

David Backes did not skate yesterday but is reportedly feeling a bit better. Kevan Miller, Par Lindholm, and Joakim Nordstrom all practiced in red no-contact jerseys. Cassidy said that Miller could return to the lineup in a week or two. John Moore, recovering from a shoulder injury, is also nearing a return but isn’t skating with the group yet.

If yesterdays practice means anything, tonights lines could look like this:

Marchand – Bergeron – Pastrnak
Cehlarik – Krejci – Heinen
Bjork – Coyle – Senyshyn
Wagner – Kuraly – Ritchie

Chara – Clifton
Krug – Carlo
Grzelcyk – McAvoy

Rask
Halak

I hope the B’s can break this one-game losing streak.

Just finished moving our bed now outside the box. No holds barred, several rounds of knock down, drag ’em out. The mattress held its own, but it surrendered in the end (not before giving me a fucking coronary). No way i can wrestle with Jo now… Call the chiropractor!!!

Hello!

12.30am start at the Pizza Box? Bleh. I’ll watch the whole thing tomorrow.

I’ve got a rare Saturday off because we’re going to a local fireworks display. Remember, remember the 5th of November! (Or in this case, the 9th!)

New England Region Tournament this weekend in Marlborough, MA. Great hockey featuring last year’s national champs, the U18 team from South Kent, CT. pretty sure there’s a link there. Players like Kevin Miller, Noel Acciari, even Patches played in this tournament. The list is long! Well worth watching!!!

Hey All!!!!
Looking forward to the game. Jo and i are moving into the pool house for the winter, and i hope to accomplish that today. We’re going to leave the third world for awhile. We’ve been living with limited electric and no insulation for a year and a half now. The fall of the house of …… our peeps.
Wings are in disarray…. I can relate!!!! I like Mac and Grizz together. Clifton will benefit from being with Z, and it may play to his strengths. He rushes the puck, but is more selective than Chaz. He has been picked on a bit in scrums, and partnering with the big man won’t hurt him. Chuck can take care of himself, IMO.

An unforeseen benefit to retiring…… I always dreaded that call or text…. “Can you get to “X” rink at throw up o’clock??? So and so is working alone and it will be a tough game… ” i always went, when possible. When you do that you climb the list until you are the first called for the worst games! I’m just going to watch from now on.

My Dad had to stop telling people he retired because he would get constant “can you help with this” or “can you volunteer for that.” The whole point was to stop working!!
