Morning Free Association: WTF, Part 5647

Last night the Bruins somehow snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Up by 4 goals in the second period, the middle frame being the one they most often play poorly, they looked to finally be back on track. It was at this time when I turned to Satan81 and stated that the last time I had personally been in attendance for a Bruins loss was earlier in the calendar year when the Habs defeated them. That also was the day when I cracked my tooth, leading to a year full of dental appointments to fix the situation. But, I digress.

It was my fault they lost. I should know better than to say something stupid like that when the game was still being played.

Anyway, after a period that saw goals from David Pastrnak, Joakim Nordstrom, Anders Bjork (PPG), and Zdeno Chara, the team went to the room feeling good.

Then, they returned to reality in the third period and allowed 4 unanswered goals, driving what should have been a solid victory into overtime.

Brad Marchand’s missed breakaway opportunity and players opting to continually pass instead of taking a shot was maddening, almost as much as the very soft officiating that constantly sent Bruins players to the box for “Hooking” (Bergeron, later Kuraly) and “Slashing” (Wagner). The phantom slashing call was the most damning as it resulted in a PPG for Florida.

After an ineffective overtime period, the Bruins managed to be even more ineffective in the shootout. Bruce Cassidy made some curious choices with his shooters like Chris Wagner (No), Charlie Coyle (2/3 lifetime in SO), Brad Marchand (actual solid choice that didn’t work), and Charlie McAvoy (WTF?). Did he pick names out of a hat? Did players volunteer? Were these guys on his shitlist? It’s anyone’s guess.

Lost among the chaos of the Bruins absolutely fucking falling apart was an apparent injury to Zach Senyshyn in the second period. He didn’t return to the game.

Hopefully, we’ll hear more about this after the B’s have some meetings and a bag skate.

For what it’s worth, this was the best part of last night:

We were hoping that Tank would be fan of the game but another very good boy who helped his military veteran won that honor.

Hey folks.

Well, what the hell was that then. They went from a fast, physical team to, well, the team that lost to the Red Wings! In the space of 20 minutes.

Is the fix in, or something??

This being warm thing is great!!! I don’t feel like going out to work, though.it’s cold out there.

So went to see Cowboy Junkies again Saturday (are we cowboy junkie junkies?). Margo mentioned something about hockey and some jerk yelled “Go Leafs”. We always say hi after their gigs so i made sure i had my Bruin’s tuuk on and told her “See you in game 7” . “Oh, that’s cold”was her reply.

Ooof. It was probably ~20 here today when I gassed up the car – which was necessary because I didn’t want to stand out in the cold last night (~31 degrees) to fill er up.

Good Morning?
That was horrible! Again, not the injuries… just got cocky with a big lead. There were a couple weak penalties in the mix, but…..
Need to get it together before the Friday/ Saturday tilts. Leafs and Caps, suck it up, boys!!
I thought Vaakeneinen played well enough. Still needs strength, but i think the Bruins are good at developing that (see Beefy Pasta!).
