Morning Free Association: Back to Work

The Bruins were back onto ice at Warrior for practice ahead of tonight’s matchup with the Los Angeles Kings. After a week on the road and away from the injury pile, Bruce Cassidy gave some updates on injured players.

  • Karson Kuhlman is skating before practice with Kim Branvold, the skating coach
  • Anton Blidh, who underwent shoulder surgery early in the season, also skated before practice with Kuhlman and Branvold. He also skated for a time with the full practice group.
  • Zach Senyshyn has been skating but was out yesterday with an illness
  • Kevan Miller had a procedure a couple of weeks back, presumably for his knee. There is no timeline for his return

Cassidy hasn’t ruled out injured players doing some time in Providence before coming back to the Boston roster.

During practice, Cassidy kept the same lines as he had for the game at the Panthers. So, those who dislike seeing Charlie Coyle in his role at RW on the 2nd line will not be happy.

After practice, Celebrity Chef Masaharu Morimoto (a.k.a. Iron Chef – Japanese) prepared lunch for the players at Warrior and later spoke with the press about his love of sports and his new restaurant opening.

“I definitely went back for seconds. Obviously very cool,” said Charlie McAvoy. “A special day for him to come and make lunch for us. It was very delicious…

The Hub Hall is going to be pretty cool.

Finally, I just have to point this out: my boy, The Pride of Rhode Island, Noel Acciari, got himself his first career hat trick last night.

I’m so proud of him. He has 8 goals on the year and will beat his career high of 10 for sure.

I expect you’ve seen Taylor Hall was traded to Arizona. Looks like the Devils have given up on this season!

Hey Gang!!!
Good for Noel!!!!! I do miss the Noeldozer.
As for Coyle at RW, that’s fine with me. He’s great along the boards and, together with DeBrusk, they create space for the Matrix to do his thing.
Going to try to get to the river this afternoon… Being on the river while it’s snowing is a beautiful experience.

Agree about Coyle. I prefer him at 3C because he seems to be the answer to the long-standing 3C issue, but for the time being he’s doing good things on the wing. Looking forward to Kuhlman coming back, he’d be my first choice 2RW.

Hope the river is well lit! It was dark when I got up and it’s almost dark again now. Depressing stuff.

Just for reference:
Noel Acciari’s NHL career to date – 210 Games played, 26 goals, 15 assists, 41 points
Yet, now he’s getting a hat trick?
