Morning Free Association: A Christmas Miracle

If after seeing the Bruins play of late, having dropped some 6 of their last 7 games, including one against their opponents last night, the Washington Capitals, you might have considered this game to be a lost cause, longed for the days in which the Bruins used to win, and sadly moved on with your life. I certainly felt that way, having even considered not watching. However, I am a masochist, so of course I had to watch.

It helped that Braden Holtby had a bad night. He managed to last one period of play allowing 4 goals on 11 shots, 2 of those with the Bruins on the power play. In that period, the Bruins saw goals from Jake DeBrusk on the power play

After the period, the Capitals made a goal change subbing in Ilya Samsonov. After David Krejci was called for tripping Dmitry Orlov, Charlie Coyle goes for the kill on the penalty kill. His short-hand goal made it 5-0, Bruins.

Of course, shutouts are hard to maintain and Alex Ovechkin scored before the end of the period to make it 5-1.

The third period saw the Bruins slip a little in allowing the Capitals to get within 3 goals after David Krejci’s empty net goal.

Of course, by that time, the Caps had all but given up on winning, preferring instead to take their frustration out on Bruins players like David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy.

Tom Wilson would get kicked out of the game. Charlie McAvoy crawled to the bench and exited the game after his being hit by TJ Oshie, who received no penalty. Much earlier in the game Torey Krug collided with Tom Wilson and left the game with an upper body injury.

So, the Bruins went into the Christmas break with a much needed win.

Since the B’s are off until Friday, we’re also going to be off until Friday AM. Enjoy your holidays!

That game was a lot more entertaining than I thought it would be. But after that 4th goal went in, the Bruins and the refs flipped a switch and started playing the scoreboard. The Bruins took only 2 shots during the 2nd period, playing most of it as if it were a penalty kill. The refs just refused to call any penalties on the Caps (Caps had a puck over the glass, closed a hand over the puck in front of the ref, a pretty glaring holding the stick, etc. in a short period of time, all obvious, all uncalled)

Wilson is a sociopath (Not joking, not hyperbole). He needs to be out of hockey at all levels if he won’t stop hitting a helpless player being held down by a linesman.

Hopefully Krug, Charlie, Pasta are all ok. I’m concerned that Krug may be in a cycle of recurring concussions.

Morning all and Merry Christmas Eve!

Well that one was fun.

Hi all.

Vesele Vianoce! It’s already Christmas here!

Nice win against a team we often have trouble with. Good that they’ve got a few days rest for the bruises to heal though!

Watching a Czech sports channel last night, who should pop up on the screen but Pasta! He was taking part in some sort of quickfire quiz. One of the questions was to name as many US states as he could in the given time. He managed four!

Later on it was darts players trying to pronounce Czech words …

I bet me pronouncing Czech words goes about as well as me pronouncing German words! (Somewhere in MA German Hammer is weeping in pain.)

My favorite language for pronunciation is Polish. I tried to learn a little Polish when I worked for a company with a large office in Gdansk, but I didn’t get very far.

Pączki – “push-ka”
Gołąbki – “go-lump-kee”
Dziękuję Ci – ok, just fuck off.
