The Bruins are on the road today, playing in Philly against the Flyers.
The Bruins are now at 27-8-11, putting them 1st in the Atlantic, and 1st in the league, tied with the Capitals and the Blues.
Last time, on Bruins hockey…
The Bruins were on the road, in Long Island, facing off against the Islanders. Their opponentwas a rather strong team, and had beaten the Bruins in their previous matchup. Well, the Bruins would hang on to overtime – the dreaded OT – against the team that has been most successful in that spot. And St. Patrice of Bergeron would come through, beating the Isles in 3-on-3 play. 2 points, baby!
Tonight will be a milestone game for the team captain, Zdeno Chara, as it is his 1000th regular season game as a Boston Bruin.

What will be the lineup today?
The usual suspects are back.
Connor Clifton is still out with an upper body injury picked up vs the Sabres.
Torey Krug is fighting an illness and is a game-time decision.
Joakim Nordstrom is back from illness.
Brett Ritchie will be in and David Backes will sit out tonight.
Charlie Coyle remains as 3rd center and long-time AHL call-up Anders Bjork will be at 2nd-line right wing again.
Injured defensemen Kevan Miller (fractured kneecap) is still not close to being ready for his season debut. Forwards Karson Kuhlman and Anton Blidh have been playing in Providence.
Jaro Halak will be in goal.

This evening’s opponent are the Flyers. They are running a record of 23-16-6 (52 points), which places them at a “meh” 5th of 8 in the Metro division. However, they are better at home than on the road, and beat the Bruins in November in a shootout. They appear to have found a goaltender in Carter Hart, who has started out really hot, and has since settled into a decent but not stellar .908 save % and GAA of 2.53.
Some significant Flyer player outages due to injuries:
Justin Bruan has a groin injury that will sideline him throughout January.
Shayne Gostisbehere suffered a knee injury and will remain out a few weeks after getting surgery.
Oskar Lindblom is done for the season with Ewing’s Sarcoma.
Nolan Patrick is week to week with migraines.
Samuel Morin is done for the season with a torn ACL.
