Morning Free Association: On to the Break

Holy crap, guys! The Bruins actually won a game in regulation. David Krejci arose from the dead and potted the puck for the game winning goal on his way to be the first star of the night.

It didn’t start out like a win for the home team. Mark Stone took just over a minute to light the lamp. It took about half a period for the B’s to tie it up with Jeremy Lauzon’s second career NHL goal and his second career goal against the Golden Knights. He’s going to be a Knight killer.

An unfortunately hi-sticking call against Brandon Carlo in the second period led to a successful power play opportunity for Vegas. Defenseman Nicolas Hague scored his first career goal on the man advantage.

Well of course he did

A scary moment occurred late in the second. Chandler Stephenson boarded Charlie McAvoy with the latter taking a hard head fort hit into the boards. Amazingly, Chuckie got up on his own, returned to the bench but sat out most of the rest of the period. He returned to the third.

Jake DeBrusk sniped one to take the tie up the game once again at 4:26 in the last frame.

Matt Grzelcyk took an awkward hit and ended up leaving the game.

Finally, David Krejci deflected the puck into Fleury, then knocked in the rebound for the go ahead goal.

The B’s managed to hold off a late game surge by Vegas to win.

Afterward, Cassidy updated the press with what he knew about McAvoy and Grzelcyk.

Players now have the next 10 days off and will return to the ice in Winnipeg.

The Bruins dominated early but fell behind on the scoreboard. I thought the game was going to turn into another opposing goaltender confidence booster.

I welcome the advent of Jeremy Lauzon: Knight killer
