Saturday’s game against the Islanders was at times a defensively stingy effort on the part of both clubs and bursts of offense from the Bruins in the opening and ending frames. The Bruins posted 4 goals on a defensively-minded team that’s trying to keep it’s footing in the wild card race or even higher, hoping that Pittsburgh slumps.

By the way, if you haven’t looked at the standings in a while, Philadelphia is currently second in the Metropolitan division with 3 points on the Penguins. Sure, the Pens have a game in hand, but still that division is unsettled and both wild cards are likely coming from there as well. It’s going to be a wild ride until the playoffs.

Back to the game: Charlie McAvoy, local boy having grown up in Long Beach, had a three-point game with 2 assists on goals by Matt Grzelcyk and Brad Marchand and a power play goal to cap the game. All 4 Bruins goals had at least one defenseman assisting and/ or scoring the goal, which is pretty exciting.

Brad’s goal was a beautiful effort resulting in a wraparound goal. Persistence pays off.

The Bruins also had great defensive efforts. Led by Zdeno Chara (7:08 SH TOI) and Brandon Carlo (5:57 SH TOI), the Bruins killed 6 penalties. Torey Krug even played goalie when Tuukka was out of the net.

All this happened and I didn’t even mention that David Pastrnak now leads the league with 47 goals after he opened up the scoring. Imagine all the other stuff happening and almost forgetting about Pasta.

The Bruins have come home but will be out on the road for the next two games in Florida. Yes, this week they play the Tampa Bay Lightning twice (Tuesday and Saturday). The Blots will be without Steven Stamkos who is out for the next 6-8 weeks with a core muscle injury that requires surgery and rehab. While he is not the only dangerous aspect of that team, his absence leaves one less problem for the Bruins to deal with. That way they can turn their attention to the dangerousness that is Noel Acciari when they face the Fancy Cats on Thursday.

Morning all. It’s March! Yay! That means winter will soon be in the rear view mirror!

Though I can’t really complain. Very mild winter this year with no sustained bitter cold snaps.

Same here – we’ve barely had a frost. Although it has been blowing a gale for the last three weeks!

Good Morning!!!
Go Bruins!! Strong effort start to finish Saturday. When they play that way, they are the best.
Spent kayak time in a pool yesterday. Jo managed to roll her boat a few times. I know she’s pleased, she’d like to solidify it. Heading to the river today!!! Yay!!

Excellent stuff. I’d be terrified of getting stuck upside down

In the pool, I stand behind her boat, ready to flip her upright in the event she fails. One can also exit the boat while upside down! In whitewater, it’s best to stay in your boat!!!

Flipping someone upright in a rapid is called “the Hand of God”. One is forever indebted after receiving the HOG!!!

Happy Monday!

Tampa have been having a bit of a wobble lately after an unbelievable run. They’ll be all out to win those two games though because if they lose then their hopes of topping the division are effectively over.

I see later this month the Bs play four games in six days in four different cities. Talk about a tough schedule!

Second lesson with my guitar student this afternoon. He picked it up really quickly last week and has been practising every day according to his mom, so that all sounds promising!
