Morning Free Association: Bruins Babies

While the Stanley Cup Playoffs were due to start on Wednesday, at least one Bruins player is thankful that he isn’t playing them right now.

Par Lindholm and his partner, Nathalie, welcomed a baby girl on Wednesday. Presumably, the little one was born in Boston as travel would be limited to a pregnant mother so close to her due date.

Of course, Lindholm isn’t the only Bruins player due to be a father (again). Both Kevan Miller and Tuukka Rask are both soon to be daddies again to little Bruins babies.

It’s good to know that life goes on even in these difficult times.

Don’t forget, we have a Social Distancing Party on Saturday night on Zoom. If you need any info, just message me in your usual ways.

Your Richard E. Grant Fact of the Day:

Grant is a pretty decent cook.
This is a skill that is far from universal amongst us men-folk, and even less so among professional actors, but both Grant and his wife Joan enjoy cooking. How & why did they learn? “greed and necessity” and a lack of patience for frozen dinners.

Grant starred in a BBC series called “Posh Nosh” in which he played “Simon”, an upper-class foodie with a cooking show.

There was not so much actual cooking on the series, so one could assume it was a red herring.
But he has actually become friends with actual British celebrity chef, Nigella Lawson. Grant discussed this on a 2014 Irish radio show, as he was going to her home to cook for her.

What would he cook for her?
“Chicken. She likes chicken.”

He also cooked breakfast for his “Can You Ever Forgive Me?“cast-mates, Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone in the morning before the Oscars ceremony.

Grant thinks of cooking for people as a wonderful social activity.

Hello folks.

The sun is out. Had a bbq yesterday with mostly non-meat food. It went OK and the grill is much easier to clean than usual!

A guy from work organised a quiz for us on Zoom last night. Ten of us got involved, it worked well.

Haha!

Leah, after failing to give up ketchup for lent decided instead to give up meat, which has left Sonia as something I have learned is called a Pulp Fiction Vegetarian

But Sonia cracked this week and I had to buy loads of ham, bacon, mince etc.

I’m lucky that I actually prefer meat substitute to the real thing in a lot of cases.

You learn something new every day!

I don’t think I’m cut out to be a vegetarian. Watching an episode of No Reservations right now that takes place in Austin and now I want all the bbq.

Well, the sun is out around here as well, yet I’m not so sure it’s what I’d call bbq weather

I’ve got some yard debris and scrap wood with rusty nails in it which I’d like to burn off, but I doubt the neighbors would appreciate it

Or that the fire department would tolerate it.

Oh right, I should ask. They did want him to go to whatever Jesus center it was at and pick it up. He did not go for that option. lol
