Yesterday, I wondered when we would hear about Bruins players taking to the ice again. Today, we have an answer from one player.

Yep, Brad Marchand is taking off some time from selling his $20 hats (Gregory Campbell’s snark, not mine) to get back to working his day job, being a hockey player for the Boston Bruins. I bet he’s excited to get back with the guys since he seems to be missing them so much. Well, at least Bergy he misses.

Speaking of the side gig, Kevan Miller is reportedly the Boston PHWA Chapter’s nominee for the Masterton Trophy.

It’s a curious pick since Kevan Miller has been battling recurring patellar injuries since April 2019, making it back so far as skating on his own before sustaining another setback. If I had to select another player, I might be tempted to select Zdeno Chara since he played through the broken jaw, even after infection had set in, requiring another surgical procedure while still playing first pairing minutes.

It’s a nice idea but something tells me that Oskar Lindblom will likely win for reasons.

The Masterton nominations are always strange to me – there’s >700 players in & out of the NHL each year, and I often don’t know their stories, so I don’t always know why they’ve been nominated. And some of the teams just chuck someone on the list who isn’t that relevant.
So I look at the list, and just say “No. Nope. What? Uh-uh. Gimme a break….” often missing guys who really deserve the respect.

As for Miller, he has certainly faced adversity, but I’m not sure he’s overcome it.
Why not nominate Marchand for overcoming being funny looking. razz

Hi Pals!
We lost Mac yesterday. Jo’s mom fell out of bed Monday, never woke up again. She hadn’t been faring well for some time, but still a shock.
Kevan Miller seems an odd choice to me, as well. I think they nominated Gord Kluzak under similar circumstances. Chara, for sure. Florida made Noel Acciari their pick. Good guy. Miss him.

Skate fellas. We need hockey.

Hiya.

My first thought was Chara’s jaw injury but wasn’t sure it counted because technically it was last year, even though it was after last years Masterton nominations. Hmm confusing.

Anyway, it’s moot as you say because Linblom is a certainty.

Started the car this morning and Barbers Adagio was on the radio – sometimes called the saddest music ever written. Then when I drove into the village a hearse, complete with coffin, pulled out in front of me. If I believed in such things I’d say the world was trying to warn me…

Thanks for the “I dig a pygmy” words yesterday…. I never could figure the rest of that line out.

Haha. If only it was possible to make a career out of knowing Beatles trivia I’d be set for life!
