Morning Free Association: Euro Players Visas

Three more players have arrived at Warrior Ice Arena for practices. Defensemen Torey Krug and Matt Grzelcyk and forward Sean Kuraly joined Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand for practice yesterday.

Current co-winner of the Rocket Richard Trophy, David Pastrnak is still in the Czech Republic, skating twice a week with a group of other Czech players. He’s also keeping in shape with other athletic endeavors.

Pasta should come back to the US soon since Gary Bettman advises that European players return within a matter of days. Foreign players’ visas are due to expire on June 30th with the original end date of the NHL year. Ideally, players should return by June 21st to update those visas and to guarantee that they will be able to return to North America prior to the start of training camps, which start on July 10th. More time back gives more time to update legal working status, not to mention allowing for a period of self-quarantine, if needed.

We’ll have more on Pasta tomorrow.

Hi folks.

My first day back at work after three months today! It’s going OK. Would be nice to get some hockey back!

Leah loved her birthday yesterday and she’s very excited to get her budgie (hopefully at the weekend), which she is planning to name Ziggy. Not as a Bowie tribute, but in memory of a dog we used to meet on the way to school who passed away last summer. smile

Morning all. In my dream last night I ended up at a random bed & breakfast where they had virtual reality headsets (you know, standard B&B amenities lol ). One of the VR programs was being on the ice during Game 7 2011. I had to go before I could try that one. Drat.

They have VR cameras at one of the Pacific venues- think it might be San Jose. It’s pretty cool but everything looks smaller than it would be if you were really there.

I’ve heard of that one.
You spend 3 hours standing in an outdoor plaza wearing a Canucks sweater and watching TV, then a riot breaks out.

Good Morning!
As more players show up, i’m gaining interest in the playoffs!! I’m trying to remember, July 10th before camp opens… still awhile before we see game action.

Momma fox and her kits have been frequent morning visitors to the meadow here in Connecticut. I can often sit out with my coffee and watch them. Sometimes she’s alone, sometimes she has kits with her… I left an area of long grass that they hunt in often…fun to watch.

Oh, foxes – beautiful! We get a lot round here, some rather healthier-looking than others. Also the odd badger, but I’ve only seen one alive.

I’ve never seen a badger. We have fisher cats… a smaller version…. never seen one of them, either.

I recently found out American badgers and UK (or European?) Badgers are not quite the same …

Those suckers do have a reputation for quickly turning nasty.

We had an explosion of fisher cats out this way about 4 years ago. Had one living in our woods – would see it dash across the driveway once in a while. It was smaller than I expected. I think it’s gone – maybe the rafters of turkeys that have since moved in decided they didn’t like ’em.
There’s one nearby that has been pretty vocal the past few mornings. I think Boomer has been smelling it when I take him out to pee. (He’s been distracted by some brushy areas – but this is also one of the spots that deer cross through, so t could be that as well.
He does not appear to care about a large woodchuck that was fleeing for cover in the adjoining yard.
