The Bruins Twitter was silent yesterday. No word of practice lines, no interviews, no further commentary on the game of the previous day. Maybe everyone took a day off in the bubble.
Yesterday, the Philadelphia Flyers and the Washington Capitals played their round-robin game, which the Flyers won 3-1. Since the round-robin games are treated like regular season games in that a win is worth 2 points, an overtime loss is worth 1, and an outright loss is worth 0 points, the standings so far with each team having played 2 games each is:
1. Tampa Bay Lightning – 4 points
2. Philadelphia Flyers – 4 points
3. Washington Capitals – 1 point
4. Boston Bruins – 0 points
The final 2 round-robin games will indeed be important to determine seeding. Philly could win the number 1 overall seed by winning against Tampa Bay. The Bruins can rise as high as 3 or stay last at 4 depending upon their performance against the Capitals. This may be the time to beat them since the Caps haven’t been playing so well.
Sunday’s game still has no definite start time, likely due to scheduling the last of the qualifier games between the Columbus Blue Jackets – Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders – Florida Panthers games, should each series go the full 5 games. It could be at noon or later. I guess we’ll all have to pay close attention for an announcement.
Finally, let’s take a look into games that the boys play in the bubble.
