Last night, another team was knocked out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Washington Capitals didn’t put up much of a fight, losing 1-0, then 2-0, then 4-0 after letting in two empty net goals. That means that the New York Islanders have advanced to the second round.
The teams will be re-seeded in the second round. At this point if the Flyers win their series against the Canadiens, the Bruins will be facing off against the Lightning. If the Habs pull off the upset in the next two games, the Bruins will play the Islanders. If you ask me, I’d prefer the latter scenario as crazypants as it sounds.
The Habs will be without Brandan Gallagher who was the subject of a cross-check that broke his jaw. Matt Niskanen, the offender, had a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety who banned him for one game.
Philadelphia’s Matt Niskanen has been suspended for one playoff game for Cross-checking Montreal’s Brendan Gallagher. https://t.co/x8zPyvNmGX

So, we’ll have to wait a couple of days until we find out the next opponents.
