While I was convinced that the Islanders have overplayed and overstayed their welcome in the Eastern Conference playoff structure, they found a way to win the game more than halfway through the second overtime.
Again, I didn’t watch the whole game but I did see moments play out and I stuck around for both overtimes.
This game marked only the second appearance of Johnny Boychuk in these playoffs after dealing with an undisclosed injury (UNFIT TO PLAY!). And he put his body and skate blade on the line.

Johnny Boychuk lost his skate blade blocking this shot from Victor Hedman 😳 pic.twitter.com/r20D8MXNu9

Seriously, that was a great play by Johnny, getting the puck out as he fell completely to the ice. Thanks to Semyon Varlamov, who gave him the needed push to get off the ice, Johnny got his skate blade replaced and missed no time.
Speaking of Varlamov, he was pretty excited that they won.

Yes, I am aware of who he is and what he may or may not have done, but for a few seconds, I appreciated his celebration and didn’t hate him that much. I’m back to being distrustful of/ disliking him.
The Isles have forced Game 6 on Thursday night. Wouldn’t it be fun to see a Final with Johnny Boychuk, Anton Khudobin, and Tyler Seguin? Go former Bruins!
