It’s the second Monday in February and after playing 11 games and having a weekend off due to the league messing up the Covid protocols in a weekend series between the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres the prior weekend, the Boston Bruins find themselves atop the MassMutual East Division. Technically, they’re tied points-wise with their last opponent, the Philadelphia Flyers. However with one game in hand, having a better win percentage and having won 4 games against Philly, the Bruins are the leader.
Hopefully, the weekend caused the banged up B’s to get closer to optimal health before their series against the New York Rangers. The Bruins will play 3 games in 4 days. Ooof.
Bruce Cassidy told the media over the weekend that he expects that both Matt Grzelcyk and Jake DeBrusk will be at practice this morning, which is a good thing.
The B’s also announced over the weekend the rescheduled dates for the postponed games against Buffalo. Mark you calendars.

I do not envy the schedule makers of the teams and the league for this herculean task of rescheduling.
Finally, if you happened to miss Friday nights game against the Flyers, here’s a video recap for you.
Brad Marchand and Sean Kuraly score in the third period to boost the #NHLBruins over the Flyers on Friday night.

Satan81 forwarded a parody video of the TikTok sea shanty meme on Saturday, and it got into my head.
I found myself digging out the mail box this morning to the tune of (myself quietly singing) “The Wellerman Comes”.
You can have the sugar and tea, I’ll take the rum
Bwahaha! I did not click on that link.
Morning folks.
We have snow! A couple of inches and it is still snowing, which is a lot for these parts. The warm Spanish air that usually keeps us above freezing has been beaten back by the north european currents, for a while at least. Glad I don’t have to make my way to/from the office today as it always causes havoc with the trains.
Ironically the excess snow has also caused the postponement of the start of the Alpine skiing world championships, which were due to start today and we were looking forward to watching. Why is all the sport I want to watch this week cancelled!!??
It’s sort of hilarious that the alpine skiing worlds is postponed due to too much snow. This has been a snowy winter here and shows no signs of slowing down. I don’t mind that much. Once the snow gets so deep my mind says “Aw, what the heck? Let’s go for the record”! I should be careful what I wish for, eh?
15 years ago I was much more gung ho about the snow. Now I have little patience for it.

I’m really not looking to go for any records.
A few years back, we got snow every other day and ran out of places to put the shoveled snow. The parking area of the driveway was surrounded by 7 foot tall walls of snow, and GH had to give up shoveling down there because she couldn’t get the snow over the banks. (And it was all manual, once the replacement snow thrower threw a rod.)
The usable part of the driveway would get smaller & smaller with each snowfall. So I would spend an hour each morning before work, and another when I got home, digging the snow banks back to reclaim the space.
My god that sounds like a nightmare – literally!
For the last few days I have been moving back snow banks hoping to create room for the next snowfall.
I am still in mourning for the NWHL playoffs. I had tickets to the Isobell cup match last spring that got cancelled, and now I can’t even watch the last 3 games of this year’s playoffs via streaming or television.
Though now that I have read more interviews with coaches & league people, I understand that the number of COVID cases was really bad.

Like “I don’t have enough players to ice a team” bad.
The frustrating thing is that playing 3 more games over the remaining 2 days probably wouldn’t have made much difference – by now, they’ve ALL been exposed. And those 3 games were going to be broadcast on NBCSN, doing a HUGE boost for the league.
But did I mention the COVID outbreak in the nDubble was really really bad?
Oh, yes – I heard they’d had to abandon the season. Damn shame that
Good Morning!!!
Thanks for the recap as we missed the game. I am loving this team! Yup, I miss Chara and Krug…, but not as much as I thought I would. Also, looks like Tuukka is in great form. His body knows it’s February!!
We have insulation. We are insulated to the nines!! Sheetrock is going in. Woo hoo! I will someday be able to go boating again! More snow in the forecast. The snowblower has been priceless this year!!
I feel exactly the same
Insulation & sheetrock!!!!!
WOO-HOO!!!!
