Game Day Thread: Capitals @ Bruins

The Bruins are back home, hosting the visiting Washington Capitals at TD Garden on NBCSN.

Last time in Bruins Hockey…

A depleted Bruins team were at Madison Square Garden, battling the Rangers. The Rangers were missing Panarin, Chytil and Kakko, the Bruins missing David Krejci, Matt Grzelcyk, Jeremy Lauzon and gave a few guys the night off, but they managed to get their heads back together, and soundly defeated the Rags.

The Bruins are now at 12-5-2, slipping to 3rd in the MassMutual East division, 2 points behind the Caps and Isles, but sneaking ahead in points percentage.

What will be the lines today?
The lines may be a little confusing.

Forward Ondrej Kase is still on IR.
David Krejci and Matt Grzelcyk are both back after being out with a lower body injuries.
Jeremy Lauzon is on IR after hand surgery, Kevan Miller is out with knee issues. Jarred Tinordi was picked up off waivers from Nashville, and should play tonight.

Charlie Coyle is in the COVID protocol, so either Jack Studnicka or Anders Bjork are expected to take his place.

Tuukka will be in net.

Tonight’s opponents are the Washington Capitals. The Caps are leading the division – in points, but not in points percentage (That’s still the Bruins – barely). This will be the first time Zdeno Chara will be in the TD Garden as an adversary since he was with Ottawa. The team is looking healthy.
Vitek Vanacek will be in net.

The Bruins are starting to get more muscle. It’s not that I love punchyface hockey, but last year’s playoff vs TBL and 2019 SCF vs Blues showed that the muscle is still part of the game and a team needs it to win.

You could look back to the 2011 SCF and say that the B’s won the Cup in game 6 when they beat the ‘nucks up. Game 7 was a formality, Vancouver was beaten.
