Yesterday Boston Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy addressed the media about the many players who are injured or on some sort of reserve list. He stated that he has every intention of holding a practice today should everyone who self-quarantined through yesterday returned negative Covid test results.
The good news is that the players on the Covid list right now remain at 5. Cassidy said it isn’t clear exactly how many of those players actually tested positive but that he heard that none of them seemed to have any symptoms of illness. He expects that any players that test negative on Wednesday morning will be able to practice and those who cleared will be able to play on Thursday but also stated that Sean Kuraly would be held out of the lineup against the Islanders.
Cassidy also gave updates on other injured players. Brandon Carlo (UBI), Zach Senyshyn (UBI), Kevan Miller (knee), and Jeremy Lauzon (right hand) are all back to skating but will likely not return on Thursday. He expects that each of them will return to play soon. Of Senyshyn, Cassidy said this:
“I talked to [skating and skills coach] Kim Brandvold. He said he feels good, skating well,” Cassidy said of Senyshyn. “I think he’ll need live practice and contact before he can answer [how close he is to returning]. So right now, I would say trending well in his recovery, but needs to be involved in traffic – not overly physical, but normal wear and tear of a hockey practice where you’re battling, and then we’ll make the determination. He’s close.”
John Moore had surgery for an unspecified injury and will be out for a while. Moore has only played in 5 games this season while battling some sort of nagging ailment.
Tuukka Rask (back?) is nearly ready for a return, either Thursday against the Islanders or Saturday against the Sabres. He’s been self-quarantining like all players that were on the last road trip. Trent Frederic, who suffered a lower body injury in the win against the Sabres last Thursday, should be ready to go if he practices. Jarred Tinordi could also return as soon as Thursday.
Cassidy expects that everyone will be lacking some conditioning due to their pause. So that will be fun to see against the division leading Isles.
Uh oh! Stripes has destroyed another device! It told me Bobby to Bergy could not be reached one too many times…. out the window with you!
We only have 12+ guys who can’t play. No biggie. Is it playoff time yet?
Glad to hear signs of life from Senyshyn, as well as the others. The team needs to start getting guys back soon.
Morning all. I love when I open my freezer and see I still have some dark chocolate chips from when I made cookies a few weeks ago. Always a surprise little treat!
Good Morning!
That’s some list of injuries, etc. We need those D men!
I don’t know what it is, but the tired thing. Ugh. I think Sis raised the subject yesterday. Is it the time change? Whatever it is… It’s knocking me out.
I’ve been doing a little better lately. Earlier sunlight has given me more energy in the morning. I just make sure I’m in bed at midnight
because… you know… consequences

But by 5pm I’m in a fog.
I crashed hard last night. Actually feel pretty rested today. Not sure how to get through a day not slightly sleepy!
Morning all.
Ooh, Miller back skating? That’s great news. Hope it’s not too soon for Tinordi. I really like what hes done so far but that looked nasty.
Will be good to get Tuukka back, even if the other two have been great in his absence. I managed to twinge my own back on Sunday – playing darts! Could barely move on Monday. Getting old is such fun!
Well, another way to look at it is it’s the Isles so we probably wouldnt have won anyway …
Busy day today. Got to go into town (my local small town, Orpington, not London). Might get my glasses tightened up while I’m there – they’ve been too loose since about last July but haven’t been into town since then!
I have hurt my back while tying my skates, by sneezing, and by doing nothing at all over the years. It’s one of the few things that gets easier to do as we grow older
I ended up on the floor in agony after coughing. Backs are the worst.
I would hurt my back regularly when shoveling snow, and moving heavy things. It’s stunning (literally) how painful that can be. So now I wear a brace around my lower torso when shoveling (it’s just a band of heavy elastic cloth), and I’ve got some simple exercises that I do, which together help tremendously at avoiding back injuries.
Whenever I see Tindori my brain changes it to tandoori and then I want Indian food.
Yeah, it’s almost a ‘scheduled loss’. Even though it should be a high stakes game against a competitor’s standing within the division, the odds of the Bruins winning are low enough that I’d call it a game with zero stakes.
I need new glasses. Have needed new glasses for over a year. Got a new pair with my old prescription but no progressive scan, so I have to wear my old ones all the time. My old ones have an earpiece wired on because I can no longer get a screw into the hinge. But I don’t want to get the eye exam until the pandemic has blown over (or I’m vaccinated) because I’d need to handle things & put my face into various rigs, and have airjets blown into my eyes. And generally expose myself to possible contagion. At this rate, I won’t be immune till mid June. Then eye exam & dental cleaning are the first things I’m going to do.
I did all those things when we unlocked last summer – the cases went waaaaaay down and we mistakenly believed we had this covid thing licked. Ah well.
My eye prescription is actually weaker than it was before, but they found out I’m going to have cataracts on later life. Yay! So I need polarised glasses when the sun’s out. No biggie. They look pretty cool.

Haha – sounds like I’m in good company with the back issues! It’s much better today, guess I must’ve pinched a nerve or something.
