The Bruins are back home, hosting the division-leading New York Islanders for their first home game this season in front of an audience, and it shall be broadcast on NESN.
Last time in Bruins Hockey…
Bruins were SUPPOSED to play the Buffalo Sabres, who they’d soundly beaten earlier in the week, but then…
the COVID fairy struck.
Bruins Sean Kuraly & Jake DeBrusk have tested positive for COVID and teammates Craig Smith, and the Davids Krejci & Pastrnak were all placed in the league’s COVID protocol as well as one of the Sabres’ trainers. The next two Bruins games were postponed indefinitely, practices up until Wednesday’s were cancelled and here we are.
The Bruins are now at 16-8-4, which still has them at 4th in the MassMutual East division by victory points, 10 points behind the Isles, and also 4rd in the division with a points percentage of .643.
What will be the lines today?
The lines are not ideal, yet not too far from normal
On the COVID protocol front, Craig Smith, David Krejci & David Pastrnak have been cleared to play. Sean Kuraly & Jake DeBrusk have not been cleared, and thus are
On a more serious note, hopefully any symptoms they have will be mild.
Injured players Tuukka Rask, Jarred Tinordi, Trent Frederic, Jeremy Lauzon, and Zach Senyshyn all returned to practice on Wednesday. Brandon Carlo is skating, albeit in a red no-contact jersey.
Ondrej Kaše and Kevan Miller are both skating on their own but were not in morning line rushes and are not expected in the lineup. John Moore is still out. Defensemen Steven Kampfer, Urho Vaakanainen, and Jack Ahcan are on the taxi squad as are Karson Kuhlman and Greg McKegg. It is likely that Kampfer, Kuhlmann & McKegg play tonight at the expense of Jack Studnicka, and Lauzon. Tinordi and Frederic reportedly are game-time decisions
Tuukka Rask is expected to get the start tonight, though the Islanders seem like a less-than-ideal opponent for a goaltender hoping to pick up his 300th career win.

Tonight’s opponent are the New York Islanders. This will be the 5th meeting between these teams this season, ALL of the previous ones have been at Nassau, and 3 have been Bruins regulation losses, the 4th a shoot-out loss. The Isles are in the the top of the division at 21-8-4 with a points percentage of .697.
The Isles are missing an injured Anders Lee (out for the season), yet have still won their last two games and 4 of their last 6. Defenseman Noah Dobson and goaltender Cory Schneider are also out.
