Watching the Boston Bruins right now is a joyless endeavour. Is it because the team crumbles with just a whiff of a forecheck? Is it because they can’t seem to exit their zone and enter the offensive zone cleanly? Is it because players get a little too caught in their head, taking shots from very obvious areas or passing when they should shoot? Is it the lack of finishing touch?

Yeah, it can be all of those things. It can also be players returning from injury, Brandon Carlo (UBI), leaving the game with injury, Brandon Carlo (UBI). At one point, the Bruins defense only had 4 skaters after Carlo went down and Jeremy Lauzon needing to be patched up. Then at another, they went down one more with Matt Grzelcyk got beaned.

He would return.

The worst part is that our best players either show up and they’re the only ones doing something or they don’t show up and you fail to even notice they’re on the ice. Last season’s Rocket Richard co-winner, David Pastrnak, was called out after the last game by Bruce Cassidy for good reason: he has 1 point, an assist, in his last 5 games. For a guy whose MO is scoring and not defending, this is unacceptable. At the same time, it can’t be the top line doing all the work either. As for the defense, maybe cloning Charlie McAvoy might be the best option for all 6 slots.

I’m not going to get much into the game other to say that aside from a lack of shots in the first, there wasn’t much damage until the second. Once the B’s went down against the Penguins, they couldn’t get back up. They lost 4-1.

Happy Friday.

So, winter is back apparently?
I don’t like this sub-freezing temperatures thing. I also want to seal around the lamp I installed the other day so I don’t have to think about it any more. (caulk doesn’t like to set at temps below 45F)

I keep thinking “this is the last time I refill the stove this season”, and it never is.

If you’re anything like us, in a few weeks you’ll be complaining it’s too hot!

16° f in Monrovia this morn! 36° for the high. I’m sure Sis has even lower temps. No thanks.

It was pretty similar this morning. Upper 20’s right now. But the trees are starting to bud!

Tom Jones has had both his jabs. He’s all set to save the world.

Got to love Tom Jones!! Did I see Eric Clapton was in the “open everything it’s fine” camp?

Unfortunately yes. Van Morrison too.

I used to work with a guy who was a farmer in Ireland and his property adjoined Van Morrison’s. He said he was a right bastard.

Van the Man may have the greatest voice of my generation, but always heard he was a prick.

Aaaarrrgggghhhh. We’ve been spinning our wheels for a fucking year and people can’t wait another 10 weeks for vaccinations to catch up with the disease. :headdesk:

Hiya folks,

yep, you said it all there, VA.

I only caught the highlights but it seemed the Penguins were able to undress the Boston D at will. Of course if half of them were crocked that might explain it …

Waiting on Dad to arrive for Easter weekend. I’m working most of it but should be fun anyway.

I tuned the game out fairly quick. (Didn’t turn it off for some reason). Penguins were doing a good job of getting through the Bruins defense, similar to the Devils except more dangerous. Vladar was really good.

Yeah, the Devils seemed to get through the D via stretch passes and hitting on the counter, whereas what I saw of last night’s game the Pens just totally outskated our young D men. 10-minute highlights usually don’t paint the full picture, of course.

Yeah, that seems fair. It did seem like it was more skating prowess than the stretch pass now that you mention it. Like I said, I wasn’t fully engaged.

Good Morning!
Missed the game, thank goodness. It’s a good thing that the Flyers suck even more than the Bruins right now.
Chilly with light show in Monrovia. A work on the house day!
