The exclamation of “Finally!” can apply to the Boston Bruins in multiple ways. Finally the Bruins managed to start a game on time! Finally the Bruins played a game in a way that didn’t fill fans with dread! Finally they played a second period that wasn’t that bad! Finally the Bruins won a game against the New York Islanders this season! Finally the B’s weren’t killed by either JG Pageau or Kyle Palmieri! Finally Tuukka Rask won his 300th game!
That last one was more or less contingent upon Tuukka being able to get on and stay on the ice for a game. He last tried that on March 25thh against the Isles but had to leave the game after the first period due to his injury. He’s been waiting since late February to hit this mark.
46 days after recording win No. 299, Tuukka Rask has won his 300th career game. Just the 15th goalie in NHL history to win 300 with same team and fourth Finn to reach milestone overall.

Before the start of the game, NESN had one of those phone game questions regarding which of the new guys would be the first to score his first point with the Bruins tonight. I thought it would be Taylor Hall based upon the heat of Craig Smith lately but also admitted that Mike Reilly takes a lot of shots. I think IW predicted Reilly and he was right. Reilly started up pretty much right away, getting the secondary assist on Brad Marchands early first period goal.
After review, Brad Marchand is credited with his 20th goal of the season.

It was great because it was a true “blink and you’ll miss it” goal.
Mike Reilly is a really great pick-up because he likes to make stretch passes and move that puck forward, well out of his own zone. Later in the game, he did this which led to a scoring chance but unfortunately no goal.
A sweet pass from Mike Reilly leads to a 2-on-1 rush from Marchand and Krejci.

Craig Smith continued his hot streak, scoring his 10th on the season.

Craig Smith. So hot right now, Craig Smith.

Tuukka made it through the first and then came back in the second!
Travis Zajac, fresh off his own trade from the New Jersey Devils to the Isles, had to ruin the good times by scoring for his new team. Incidentally, it was his first as an Islander. Boo!

That would bring the Isles to within one, which was as close as they would get.
It probably wasn’t the best period they played, but they got through it. In the third, Taylor Hall would come up big on a seemingly slow breakaway for his first goal and point as a Bruin. Five hole.
Hall of a first with the @NHLBruins, Taylor! 👀

Being up 3-1 is not necessarily safe against just about any team in the NHL, especially the Islanders who happen to have two potent Bruins killers in Palmieri and Pageau. Neither of them did their dirty work in this game. I wonder if Kyle Palmieri, who had to shave his full-bodied beard due to Lou Lamoriellos dumb rule on facial hair, might have lost some of potency because of that. I also wonder if his former teammates in New Jersey relish the gift of his beard which was left behind in the trade. Do they pass it around to the player of the game?
This game was safe, especially when Brad Marchand scored his second of the game on the empty net from a bad area. Marchy now has 21 goals on the season.
They did it! They won! Finally!
By the way, Stripes is up in Monrovia without internet and misses all of you. Apparently tree work was the latest cause of outage. The poor thing keeps texting me to tell me how much he is missing out. If anyone wants me to pass anything along, let me know. No gifs though because he has an old phone.
Fuck! Now cats are one step closer to the world domination they’ve been craving since the dawn of catkind.
This will not end well

Also, looks at those little illuminated beans!
The paws!!
Morning all.
Finally!

I guessed it would be that video
It instantly got stuck in my head as soon as I saw the MFA title!
It’s snowing.
it’s fucking snowing. hard.
Fuck.
I’m realizing this is all my fault. I ordered some new sandals the other day for summer and totally cursed the weather. My bad!
Hi folks, happy …. Friday?
I’ve been totally off-kilter all week after doing the weekly shop on Tuesday instead of the usual Wednesday. Yep, that’s all it takes!
Nice win for the Bs, they needed that I think.
Didn’t see the whole game, but does anyone else think there seems to be something bothering Pasta? A niggling injury maybe? He just hasn’t looked his usual fluid self for a while to me. (When I said something similar about Marchy early in the season he immediately went on a tear, so hopefully Pasta will do the same now!)
It felt like the Isles weren’t at their best, but damn, that was a good win. Varlamov was having a good game but they still put 3 pucks past him. And they got 23 shots on net in that first period.
I’m loving Mike Reilly, and Hall looks like he’s going to fit in pretty well.
And I definitely think there’s something wrong with Pasta. He’s not skating well and he has no touch with his stick. I hope he comes out of his funk – that kid is such a joy to watch when he’s on his game. But I suspect he’s got some lingering physical issue that will drag him down for the rest of this season & through the postseason.
Small sample size, of course, but Reilly seems to be exactly what this defence needed. He’s given them an attacking impulsion which has transformed their character when he’s on the ice. (I’m not going to mention Krug. Oh damn, I did.)
I hear ya. I get very out of sorts when my routine is disrupted.
Yes, I do. I thought I read on Twitter a few weeks back that after a game Pasta stated that his hip was bothering him. Whether it is the same hip that was surgically repaired or not I cannot say.
