The Boston Bruins controlled their own destiny with a definitive regulation win over the New Jersey Devils, 3-0. With that win the Bruins claimed the final playoff spot in the East. It was only the second shutout for Tuukka Rask this season.
In his 800th NHL game, all with the Bruins, Brad Marchand didn’t score a goal but did get on the score sheet by helping out on two others. After a scoreless first period in which the Bruins outshot the Devils 17-4, they turned on the heat in the middle frame with goals from Nick Ritchie and Patrice Bergeron.
Big Ritch got it started.

The Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak line cashes in again.
Make it 12 20-goal seasons for Patrice Bergeron.

The game was kind of a quiet one and pretty fast-paced in that it was over by 9:30. There weren’t many stoppages and only a couple of penalties in the third: a boarding call against AJ Greer and fighting between Connor Clifton and Greer after the latter boarded Cliffy’s partner, Jakub Zboril. Zboril seemed to be okay, temporarily left the game, then returned. He would also spend time in the box for holding later in the game.
Matt Grzelcyk scored the final goal of the game late in the third.

Morning All!
Woo hoo! Playoffs!
Morning all. Wooo playoffs!
Morning all.
Enjoyed that one, a nice no-nonsense win.
We had a terrible storm last night. Horrendous winds. Luckily all fence panels are still in place!
Yikes, glad there’s no damage and you didn’t end up in Munchkin Land!
Auntie Em! Auntie Em!
A bit later I’d better go check if the pub beer garden is still there!
Yes, very important to check on these things! And help rebuild if needed!
I hear that places like that often have more beer than they can safely store after a storm. Best help them deplete their excess stock!
