Morning Free Association: Loser Point

You win some and you lose many to the Devils. That’s how the saying goes, right? Well, that’s how the Boston Bruins say it. After playing an eight-game series against the New Jersey Devils, the Bruins skated away with a record of 3-3-2 with two of their wins not counting for ROW (Regulation/Overtime Wins) because they were won in the shootout. Only their record against the Islanders is worse (2-3-2, with one more game next week). Last night, the Bruins managed to let the game slip from them in overtime.

The game was a bit of a yo-yo, with the lead changing multiple times due to the Bruins being unable to make the killshot. Last night, the Devils discovered a new Bruins killer: Pavel Zacha. Zacha bookended the game with a power play goal to start and a goal with a man advantage due to a delayed call on the Bruins Sean Kuraly. The Devils never lost possession of the puck and got the last puck by Jaro Halak, who had a bit of a rough night (17-21, .810 SV%).

Zacha’s first goal came on the power play after the Bruins committed 3 back-to-back penalties. Connor Clifton’s time expired just before Zacha’s goal so that it was scored on Charlie McAvoy’s time. After a review to make sure, McAvoy was freed.

The bright spot of the Bruins was that they had some really fun goals despite the many mistakes they made. They finally scored on the power play:

Taylor Hall scored an improbable goal when the puck bounced off his nether regions into the net. This was challenged for goaltender interference, which Hall went out of his way to avoid.

Sean Kuraly even scored, not by using his stone hands, but off his skate. Since his promotion to the third line center, he’s had 3 points in as many games.

Alas, the lead was not to last. The Devils came back to tie it and win in overtime. The loser point kept them a point ahead of the Islanders in the East, who lost to Buffalo in OT as well. Currently, the B’s sit in third place behind the Capitals, who have played one more game than the B’s and who are only two points ahead. It’s going to be an interesting finish.

Hi folks

Disappointing end to an entertaining game.

Cant believe Marchy was unhurt after going into the boards like that. It looked terrible.

Good news – the beer garden survived the storm. Tonight I have to take Leah to her musical theatre class and then hang around for an hour. Might have to go back, just to make absolutely sure about that beer garden…

Ziggy the budgie is making a steady recovery from his leg injuries. On the vets advice I got them some high-potency feed (whatever that means) and a UV lamp. These have transformed both birds personalities – they have so much energy! All good.

Glad to hear Ziggy is on the mend! It’s been gray and rainy all week and I noticed this morning it was affecting my mood. Thought about getting one of those UV happy lamps

If the birds are anything to go by I say definitely get one!
Improved mental wellbeing is one of the benefits listed on the box, and these two are full of beans!

John’s new hobbies include hanging upside down and playing peekaboo with the bird in the mirror. Hopefully wont work quite the same on you …

Good Morning!
Ah well, a loser point will have to do. Really, the Bruins are just fine tuning now. Get Carlo up to speed, rest guys who need it.
A little early for this, but does Tuukka resign with the Bruins? Depends on the playoff results, I guess. Swayman stays, I’d like to see Vladar stay in the fold. I think Jaro will be moving on.
Didn’t have a chance to say, but I finally caught a fish! A trout. What a surprise! I turned it loose, but I’m going to eat one of these critters soon.

Oh! Went to town hall to vote for local officials. Everyone was unopposed! There were positions with no candidate, which I later found I could write myself into! Tree warden! I want that position…… But I really aspire to be the Inspector of Bark. Yup, it’s a real position and has nothing to do with dogs!

My dad is on the Waitsfield Cemetery Commission. They are currently in high-level negotiations with the Path Association. Path Association wants access to a cemetery for their trail network. Cemetery Commission needs a new tool shed. Show me the quid pro quo, motherf#%kers!!

Water, toilet paper and cemeteries are the three things there will always be demand for. Paths? Meh. Bit of a luxury.

Their offer was Cemetery Commission supplies the materials and the Path Association will supply the labor. I told my dad to hold out for a better offer. lol
