By the time of puck drop (7:40pm) yesterday, I was already not feeling it. I had been battling a combination of allergies, fatigue (see: allergies), and sadness because Sunday had been so awesome despite the thunderstorm raining out our porch dining with friends (!). Our best friends up from Long Island were gone. Even Boomer seemed to feel it because he and Auntie Wendy are BFF now. Just before game time, I also cooked a good cauliflower side dish and almost completely burned the pork chops on the grill. Yeah, Monday was not great.
All of this is just a long-winded way of saying that I had a hard time staying tuned in to the Bruins-Capitals game. At one point during the first period in between TJ Oshie’s game-tying power play goal and Patrice Bergeron’s game-leading goal, I thought to myself, “I’m not sure I can continue watching this game”.
Bergy goals can make you reconsider your life choices.

I would be remiss in not showing you Jake DeBrusk’s opening salvo.
Jake DeBrusk. Two goals in two games. What a play by Charlie Coyle. 1-0 Boston #NHLBruins pic.twitter.com/jYuQNAyLkX

It is his second goal in as many games.
Anyway, the stupid Caps tied it up before the end of the period. Garnet Hathaway is a jerk.
The second period involved no scoring but a lot of penalties, mostly matching. Throughout the game, the Bruins would only have two power plays, neither of which they would capitalize upon. But in the second, the B’s and Caps had three separate instances in which a man from each team went in the box for matching minors making a lot of 4-on-4 play.
In the third, Garnet Hathaway broke the tie. Later on, Taylor Hall would knot it up again with a multiple effort goal.

Your classic 78th-chance effort goal.

The game would be decided quickly in overtime.
Brad Marchand ended the game 39 seconds into the extra period.

Game 3 is on Wednesday night at the peculiar start time of 6:30pm.
Can we talk about how perfect Bergy’s goal was? Pasta with the immaculate reception, then beating his man, Marchand with the net drive, and Bergy trailing… Absolute perfection!!!
Marchand’s net drive really opens up the middle for Bergy
Twas a thing of beauty, to be sure
Morning all. Winning is fun.
Good morning!!!
Always great to beat the Çaps!! Watched 2 periods at the Readsboro Inn. Had to go home when they rolled the sidewalks up. . Loving this team (today :-D) . Great to see Charlie Coyle playing the way he can! I wonder if he nursed an injury through the lean days this season. Anyway, he reminds me of Rod Brind’amour when he skates like that…. except with more offense.
More mud and tape on sheetrock today. Getting good at it!
Is your brother enjoying the series?
Oh right, I keep forgetting AnonymousBrother is a Caps fan.
I talked to my brother between the 2nd and 3rd. He was listening. Dude, it’s the playoffs! Anyway, he’s a Tom Wilson fan and a Trump supporter. The Bruins need to win for truth, justice, and the American/Canadian way!
Well, at least he’s consistent in his admiration of scumbaggery, Lol
Hi folks,
enjoyable game. Good team performance. I actually didn’t celebrate Bergy’s goal because I was certain the puck came out of the zone! The replay clearly shows Pasta kept it in though – what a great play from him.
I’m fine with the matching penalties. Couldn’t argue with any of them. Was maybe a bit harsh on Wilson to get called for embellishment but screw him. He deserves a penalty for being him.
My first reaction was “offside”. That’s why I had to retire…
