Morning Free Association: In Between Day

After Monday night’s victory, the Boston Bruins travelled back home to rest and recover before Game 3. Does it seem like this series is flying right by?

Bruce Cassidy gave updates about some defensemen. Kevan Miller received a nasty gash during the first period that required some suturing. He is good to go for Game 3. Jeremy Lauzon, who blocked a shot with his hand on Saturday night, will be out for Game 3 and is considered day-to-day. Connor Clifton, who did all sorts of good things all over the ice, will continue to take his place. This is what alternate captain, Brad Marchand had to say about Clifton’s impact on the ice.

“I love Cliffy,” said Brad Marchand. “He competes so hard every day in practice, every shift in the game. He’s so hard to play against. And he’s always ready. He’s ready regardless of how long he’s sitting or when he’s in and out of the lineup. He brings the same intensity every night. He competes hard. He can skate like the wind and he’s so physical.

“I think he catches guys off guard a little bit. But he’s a great player for us. He has been for a couple years now. We’re lucky to have him.”

That is an endorsement.

(Also, I just love Brad so much.)

Finally, I just wanted to share this piece of perfection for you to brighten your day.

Finally even more, once I wrote the title I couldn’t help but be reminded of the first song I even heard by the Cure when I was 12 years old. The video used to play on V66 and I was just entranced by it. That and “How Soon is Now” by The Smiths. I guess that was proof that I was going to like college rock and “alternative” before it was called that. Anyway, here is that Cure song, “In Between Days”. For some reason the original video is not online.

And here is a cover of it by own of my favorite bands, Superchunk.

hope I can appreciate the game tonight. This looks like a series where every game is going to be agonizingly close.

11 straight one-goal games inthe playoffs between Bs and Caps! They may have mentioned it in commentary once or thrice.and I think six or seven went to OT.

Morning all. Was hungry when I went to the grocery store yesterday so a quick trip for q-tips, seltzer, and cereal turned into q-tips, seltzer, cereal, potato chips, and cookies.

Always go to the grocery store stoned, hungry, and with lots of money….. Two days later… “What is this shit?” grin

Morning all.

Bs defensive depth is impressive. I guessed they learned their lessons from that year we had to ice an AHL defence in the playoffs.

But Cliffy, Kampfer, Tinordi – I’m fine with any of those guys stepping in.

Spent my morning sorting Lego pieces. Leah is selling a few of her kits and we need to make sure all the pieces are here. It’s quite therapeutic!

When you consider that Chara and Krug left with no compensation, this year’s depth is nothing short of amazing. Kudos to the Sweenius!

yeah, they’re in pretty good shape with D-men 7-10. I am amazed at how well this team has come together.

The Simpson recently did a Morrissey parody that was pretty funny.

Needless to say, Morrissey was not amused by it.

“Needless to say, Morrissey was not amused by” X, where X is an otherwise amusing thing.

I love Morrissey, but dude can be depressing. Maybe I have less to be sad about these days.

Also, Jo’s deputy(nerd, right hand man, etc) gave us many seasons of the Simpson’s!!! Apparently, he bought a lot and, of course, doubles.. Yay!

Ya know, Sesame Street used to do parodies of people that would not appear on the show…. Remember Merryl Sheep or Placido Flamingo? Those two did not appear
