Morning Free Association: Bruins Win in OT

The title sums it up. Unfortunately, I’m not the one to give any analysis on the game since I’m stupidly tired. The game lasted 3 hours even with the extra period but I’m trying this new thing called “waking up early” followed by “going to the gym”, all of which makes me feel wiped out by 10pm. Actually, by gametime; I almost fell asleep tucking in Boomer. Plus, seeing My Boyest of Boys get knocked out of the game early in the third kind of took me out of the game.

Despite Brandon Carlo leaving the game with an apparent head injury, Bruce Cassidy isn’t going to rule him out for Game 4.

Okay, now that that’s through, let’s talk about the Bruins two goals.

Craig Smith scored the first one early with a puck that just trickled into the net.

It would take nearly 60 minutes of ice time for Brad Marchand to score the game winner.

Next game is Saturday night at 7:15pm.

Bruins mostly played that one pretty well. They needed to score on one of those late power plays, and they really just lost their focus at the end of the 2nd one, and never got it back until after they gave up a goal. Clifton going behind the net when he didn’t have a D-man on the opposite post was less than ideal. And I don’t remember what Lauzon was doing at the time – he sure wasn’t anywhere near the goal or the puck.

Tuukka kept them in that game when things got bad – including a couple of breakaways, and the onslaught for the first 3 minutes of OT.

Tuukka was fantastic. I thought some of our guys looked a bit tired towards the end of regulation. They had every right to be, to be fair.

Varlamov was good too but the Bs most dangerous chances seemed to end with the forwards fluffing their lines.

Was reading some COVID stuff in the Post this morning. They had the vax numbers for each state & county. The ones doing the best? VT, ME, MA

So I looked at the county-level numbers, and all the big counties are at >50% fully vaxxed, but Cape Cod & the islands are all “WUT? I’m burning sage and injecting bleach, I’ll be fine.”
Don’t know what their deal is. The only town where COVID isn’t fairly well controlled is on Martha’s Vineyard. It seems like these are places where it should be easy to set up vaccination centers.

You guys have done well at keeping out the so-called “India variant” haven’t you? It’s causing us all sorts of bother, although while infections are going up, hospitalisations and deaths are staying low, thanks to the vaccines.

There was an interesting programme on the other day about organised anti-vax and their methods. An evil bunch praying on the vulnerable and stupid.

The other week, our government issued a “green list” of countries Brits are allowed to visit. Many of them aren’t letting in visitors from the UK, and a few others are far-flung British territories that you can’t get to without chartering your own plane or boat!

Hiya folks,

Good game, good win, and an important one on the Island. Bity of a nervy watch at times but the better team won.

I’m trying this new thing called “waking up early” followed by “going to the gym”

I’ve ditched the early mornings for now since the girls started rising even earlier and defeating the object of my getting up early! What is this “gym” you speak of?

After a lovely week of weather it has literally not stopped raining today, possibly because this was the day we have long had earmarked for a BBQ! Forecast to improve tomorrow…

Slovakia got dumped out of the worlds yesterday by USA – 6-1 I think it was. Having watched loads of the tournament, Sonia and I were so busy yesterday we totally forgot about the game! Just as well, maybe! Last I saw Peter Cehlarik (remember him?) was the tourney top pointscorer and GB’s Liam Kirk the leading goalscorer!

We’ve got a full house atm so I won’t join you for the pre-game Zoom, but will try to send positive vibes!

Yes, definitely get that extended family time! I’ve got my first late-pandemic visit with family coming up in a week.

Also: I’m pretty sure rain builds its schedule around outdoor plans. Was planning all week to mow the lawn on Saturday – so we got 3 days of rain. *shrugmoji*

Morning all. Been a busy couple of weeks and adjusting to the new “new normal.” Definitely spiked the anxiety a bit last night. Looking forward to relaxing and decompressing this weekend.

Good morning!!
What a game! I was texting with Jo, couldn’t B2B as my phone ain’t smaht. We were both biting our nails!!! I only have one hand left, I chewed my nails so hard!! Varlamov played a great game, as did the man with the two U’s and the two K’s. Leave it to B rad! He must practice that bad angle shot. It’s amazing how many goalies he burns from the left side deep as a left hand shooter.
Jo is coming up this afternoon. Yay! We haven’t been apart this long in…. forever.

He must practice that bad angle shot.

I couldn’t believe that went in. He must be good at threading needles!

Sounds like you’re going to have a great weekend
