Morning Free Association: That Was Something

Did you watch last night’s game? It was the first preseason game on TNT and it showed. From a lack of studio show to start, to interruptions in the broadcast, one functional camera that had the top of the screen cut off and playing at the bottom, to Rick Tocchets microphone just plain not working for the first few minutes of the first intermission show, it was a bit of a rough watch. If you liked the broadcast team of Kenny Albert, Eddy Olczyk, and Keith Jones between the glass, this was the game for you.

Oh yeah, the Bruins did just fine winning 4-2. The two goals against were from Joel Farabee who’s going to be a real bee in the Bruins’ bonnet this season like he was last. Both were power play goals.

The Bruins scored three in the first after Farabee’s first goal. The first two were PPGs by Brad Marchand and Craig Smith.

If you had My Boyest of Boys feeling his BDE (Big Daddy Energy) and ripping one from the faceoff circle, then good for you.

Jake DeBrusk added one more in the second to put the game virtually out of reach for the Flyers.

And he got his stick caught in the glass.

Because everyone wants to see a shootout after the game is won, DeBrusk was the one to put an end to that nonsense.

So, all things considered, he had a good night. Let’s hope it continues.

What did I like? I liked Erik Haula’s drive toward the net. I loved how Nick Foligno uses his body to keep his puck away from the opposing player on his back. And I love scoring.

Morning all. Finally broke down and put the heat on. Nugget is happy. She’s back to her winter residence in front of the Rinnai.

I’m looking at a couple of window-mounted AC units that need to be put away this weekend. Don’t want to do the work, but it will be good to get closure on their season.

Taking out the AC is on my list for tomorrow. Since it’s really the only thing on my list it probably won’t get done. lol

Energy bills over here have more than doubled. Tons of smaller energy providers have gone bust. Don’t know what the issue is.

Our heating comes on automatically. Might have to change that!

We caved in and put the heat on, too. Liking it, so far

Good morning!
Craig Smith knows where to be all the time! Put him out there with Bergy and Marchand… That guy will score 40 goals, no problem! Need to get my ESPN+ thing going. We marathoned Midsomer Murders yesterday, all day to check out our streaming capacity… All good!

Craig Smith was definitely an excellent acquisition. After so long without a good option in that spot.

So after thrashing about at work aimlessly for like 10 weeks, I had 2 days of hyperproductivity and was nominated for special recognition.

My job is so effing weird.

Ok, I take back anything nice I said about TNT’s capacity to broadcast a sporting event. Holy shit, that was a clusterfuck! They lost vertical hold on a digital broadcast – how does that even happen? They hung on one camera just over the glass at center ice for an entire period – I think they decided their problems were so bad that they sent a guy with a portable camera into the stands and had him record everything from that angle.

Good morning.

Nice win. I’ve got no idea how strong a Philly team that was. I did wonder what the director was playing at – couldn’t even see the Debrusk goal!

Pretty ugly turnover for the first Flyers goal, but I guess he didn’t have many options. these things happen on the PK.

It looked like they had 1/3 of their starters on the ice. Yeah, they had Farabee and JVR & Sanheim & Ristoleinan, but no Giroux or Hayes or Provorov.

So it was good to see Jake & Carlo put up some points, but I’m not making too much out of this win. Other than yes, Farabee is still a Bruins-killer

I did like what I saw from Foligno. I would be interested to see some line combos with him in there.

Yeah, Foligno looks to have settled in nicely. I’m not totally pessimistic about this season.
