Man oh man, am I so happy that this Patriots – Bucs game is over. One less sports thing on the plate to worry about. I know Sox fans are psyched that they clinched the wild card. And of course, Bruins fans are glad that the preseason is winding down and that the new season is mercifully only 12 days away.
The B’s played a game on Saturday against the Rags. They looked terrific in the first period, less so in the second, and finally the third and overtime were not great either, with them dropping the game 4-3 after not scoring since the opening frame. To add insult to injury, the Bruins also lost the shootout, which meant nothing anyway. Tonight they play the Flyers again in Philadelphia in the penultimate game before the new season begins on October 16th. Wednesday they’ll be back at home against the Capitals. Both games are available on NESN.
To be honest, I’m a little worried about what I’ve seen from Linus Ullmark. I know these games mean nothing and this is his first action with his new team but I still don’t like some of what he’s let get by him. Bruce Cassidy seems to be confident that with reps, he’ll get better.

In the past few days, the Bruins have made some roster cuts. Fabian Lysell has been sent to the WHL’s Vancouver Giants. The Providence Bruins welcome Callum Booth (G), Jeremy Brodeur (G), Jack Dougherty (D), Ian McKinnon (F), Andrew Peski (D), Eduards Tralmaks (F), and Alex-Olivier Voyer (F).
After Wednesday night’s game, the B’s have 10 days to rest and set the roster.
