Morning Free Association: New Week

The Boston Bruins have now played 4 games in that past 8 days since beginning their season several days after many other teams. Despite a terrible game in Philadelphia, they have mostly resided in the win column with a record of 3-1. Despite commanding the scoresheet for most of the game yesterday (yeah, they played on a Sunday at 1pm, on a Patriots game day!) they managed to squeak out a win over the late-scoring San Jose Sharks. The Shark started out out 4-0 before meeting the Bruins in Boston. Let’s hope the B’s continue to knock down the winning teams.

Speaking of winning teams, the Bruins will be playing against two this week back-to-back: the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes. These two teams will probably prove to be the toughest challenge so far this season as both teams have perfect records so far. And the Bruins are a bit beat up: Nick Foligno has been moved to IR, Anton Blidh is injured, and Jack Studnicka and Oskar Steen were called up. John Moore was loaned to Providence to make room on the roster.

One of the teams that the Canes beat was the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs are starting out poorly, 0-5 until they played the lowly Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night, a game that the Habs managed to win. But, when they lost to the Canes last week, they got trolled really hard with a tweet and a special website.

Yep, clicking on it with reveal not only the subject of the first offer sheet in the war between the Hurricanes and Canadiens, Sebastian Aho, but also a sweet limited-time offer on Kotkaniemi and Aho shirseys.

You just love to see it.

Morning all,

Just realised its Monday! We all have the day off today and it feels very Sunday …

Very impressed with the Bs. Yesterdays game was the most one-sided 4-3 I’ve ever seen. Great bit of commentary during the Sabres game, while 63, 37, and 88 were cycling the puck: “Cue the Harlem Globetrotters music!” Those three seem even better this year, if that were possible.

“Cue the Harlem Globetrotters music!”

I did here that comment! Great stuff.
Also, did not mind the more neutral commentery from espn

Moring all. Only mildly exhausted today instead of the utterly exhausted I’ve been recently. Yay progress!

And yesterday I forgot to take my debit card out of the back pocket of my jeans before doing laundry so that’s all nice and clean and downy fresh!

I once put a Blockbuster card (that tells you how long ago it was!) Through a wash AND drier cycle and it still worked! So hopefully you should be ok…

Ooh, not sure I know that one. Rings a very vague bell. I’ll have to look it up!

Good morning!
Two wins, four points! Despite losing the Corsi battle with the Sabres, the Bs dominated on the scoreboard. I was hoping Ullmark would get the shutout in his old haunts, but it was not to be. Still, Ullmark played well. Couldn’t watch yesterday, but his save percentage was around .885, not great. I imagine Swayman will be next to don the tools of ignorance, as neither has grabbed the brass ring.
As IW predicted, we will see road games as long as NESN keeps their staff at hpme… Yay? To be clear, I am not a fan of pandemics. I am a fan of free ho!

You can see why the Sabres won their first 3 games with how they kept the pressure on the Bruins. The B’s are fortunate that Ullmark had a good game – they could have gotten into a deep hole early on. I’m happy for Ullmark, it was a good showing.

I missed a lot of the Sharks game. I saw most of the 2nd period, in which the Bruins had a big lead and just choked out their opponents. The 3rd started out the same way, then I go to the basement looking for a bottle of soda or something, and when I come back, the Sharks scored almost immediately.
“Oh well, at least they’re still up by two” I think, but then I notice it’s 4-3 on the ticker – they’d just scored while I was out of the room for two minutes, after a half hour where they’d had maybe 5 or 6 shots!

There was a kerfuffle late in the 2nd where Cliffy went after Nick Bonino. I never got a good look at what went down – maybe he got slashed and didn’t like it? Bruins got the PP out of that. I have no idea how they were only roughing penalties.

Ahh, found it:

Cliffy wasn’t the only one who got in on the fun. Later on, a Shark went after T-Freddy too.

Those two third period goals against the Sharks both redirects in front of the net. No-one could’ve stopped them. I’ve been quite impressed with Ullmark so far.
