Morning Free Association: Game Day?

Believe it or not, the Bruins have a game tonight. That means that not only are they scheduled to play, they are encouraged to do so in an arena full of their home fans. Tonight’s opponent is the Detroit Red Wings, who are surprisingly better than anyone expected them to be.

Currently, the Red Wings sit in 5th place in the Atlantic having played 10 games (4-4-2) with 10 points. The Bruins have played fewer games but are just below them in the standings in 6th place. The team isn’t likely a playoff calibre team at this point, but it took the Panthers to overtime the night before the Bruins finally defeated the Florida. They’re kind of hard to figure out.

Captain Dylan Larkin needed time to take care of a personal issue. Forward Tyler Bertuzzi has been unable to play games in Canada due to his refusal to get vaccinated against Covid; he should be in tonight.

As for the Bruins, it looks like Jeremy Swayman will be the netminder tonight.

The rest of the lineup looks about the same.

Tonights game is 7pm.

Hi folks,

A game! And thanks to the discrepancy in our countries’ idea of when we’ve saved enough daylight, it’s an 11pm start for me! Will definitely watch the 1st period live; maybe the 2nd – depends how it’s going.

Had a darts match last night – our team’s first since February 2020. We lost, but it was an expected loss – we’ve never beaten the opponent and we have a weaker team this year. Was still great fun, though.

We have been out a few times now. It does feel great to get out with people. We chatted with some bikers at a bar in Bennington, VT. Teachers from CT, who taught Jo’s daughter. it’s a small world

Now I’m picturing Hell’s Angels as teachers. I guess it’s not that kind of biker. Or maybe it is!

Its bizarre when you bump into people like that. We were chatting to a guy on a bar in Liverpool and he turned out to be from Bromley (3 miles from here). He was a schoolteacher too, in fact!

A cab driver I had in Boston once knew friends of mine. He was so happy I knew them he didn’t charge me for the ride!

Morning all. Leaving the radio show last night we were greeted by a little snow on the ground!

Is this early for snowfall where you are? Certainly in Slovakia they wouldnt expect any until much nearer Xmas.

It’s not totally a shock to see it. And the ski resorts here usually start making snow anyway as they try to open during the Thanksgiving holiday.

We had our first legit snow squall yesterday. Hey, it’s hockey season, right?

Does your radio show live stream? I would definitely check it out.

Good morning!
Woohoo! An actual game. We will be streaming the game, we hope! I like all the other hockey, but we want to watch the Broons.
Most of our leaves are gone now. Currently 24°F, high of 41 today. I’m not ready! House is toasty and draft free, so far. Not sure how much fuel we’re using yet. Took a ride yesterday. Once one drives to a lower elevation, boom, leaves. Southern elevations keeping their leaves longer, too, so our side of the valley has more leaves than the side we look at. Weird, random observations.

It should be nice to see a Bruins game again. Also, the NWHL season opens up on Saturday. GH & I have tix for the Sat & Sunday Pride games. We are gonna go a park our butts in those seats & luxuriate in the act of not standing up and fighting for visibility for 2-1/2 hours. Whee!
