I’ll be honest, it’s hard to say anything about this team right now without being pretty negative. The Bruins have only played 15 games, winning 60% of them. They haven’t even lost in a game in overtime for any loser points. They win, either in regulation, overtime, or the shootout, or they just lose. I know that the long delays in their schedule have contributed to lackluster performances so far because it’s hard to build chemistry when you aren’t playing games. And then when they are playing, Bruce Cassidy is so quick to start up his blender that you hardly know who is on what line. Somehow or another, Boston managed to piece together a win-streak of 3 games before Calgary shut them out on Sunday night.
What I’m saying is that it’s hard to watch and care about this team right now. Are they playing below expectation? Do they have bad puck luck? Will individuals and the team get it together? Who knows?
Maybe things will start to turn around soon because the schedule picks up starting this week. Starting Wednesday, the Bruins will play every other day until they have a 3 day break while getting ready for their western Canada roadtrip, which will entail 3 games in 4 days before coming back home for a game and then on the road for 3. Basically in December, they will nearly double the amount of games they’ve played.
By that time, we should know what this team is. I hope.
