Guess what, the Bruins are allowed to play another game! This time, they get to play in Buffalo, which is fun, I guess. When I saw this photo of Patrice Bergeron preparing to board the plane, I couldn’t help but say, in my head, “Oh no, that’s a male model,” a familiar refrain from one ETD51 before he was suspended from Twitter.

Anyway…
Bruce Cassidy is trying to solve the puzzle of his defense by picking names at random from a hat and pairing guys up. No, that isn’t it but it sometimes seems like it. The pairings that he divined for tonight’s game are:
Matt Grzelcyk – Charlie McAvoy
Derek Forbort – Brandon Carlo
Mike Reilly – Jakub Zboril
“Grizz and Charlie have played well together. We know that,” Cassidy said following Tuesday’s practice at Warrior Ice Arena. “The only guy Forby hasn’t really partnered with is Carlo so at some point I was probably going to look at it just to see. Grizz, I think, right now is off a little bit. I think having him play with Charlie will get him a little back on track.
“They tend to play well together. I think the Grizz-Carlo [pairing] has been just average. I think Brandon’s played some of his best hockey with [Zdeno Chara] in a shutdown role, just focusing on that.
“I know it’s been a few years, but he can do that well. Hopefully it will get him back to where he needs to be. I just think that pair right now hasn’t been as strong as it could be.”
He added that he’s continued to like the chemistry brewing between Reilly and Zboril and that they play well together even when he flips them around.
Linus Ullmark gets the start against his former team again.
Nick Foligno remains at 2RW and Craig Smith at 3RW. Trent Frederic is back at practice but Anton Blidh has had some real motor on the 4th line with Tomas Nosek and Curtis Lazar. So, not much changes with the forward group. Hopefully they can find some chemistry, better two-way play, and scoring.
We’ll be taking tomorrow off for Thanksgiving, returning on Friday. The game against the Rangers is a huge manatee game so maybe we can chat about it in the MFA. That game will be shown on ABC stateside.
Yup, Feliz Dia de Acciones de Gracias
Maddie, our granddaughter, is in a magnet school in Miami. She’s learning Spanish. She is in kindergarten. I wish there were schools like that when I was a kid.,.. although I probably wouldn’t be allowed to go… (Archie Bunker was my real dad)
That is neat. I wish they taught us in our public school system at a much earlier age. We started in eighth grade (for some) or 9th (for most). If you held out until 9th, you got to learn Portuguese, which was a common language in my area of the world.
Leah learned a bit of French and sign language in nursery. Unfortunately she cant remember any of it now!
Shes been learning German in school since September.
That’s pretty cool. We have limited use for foreign language learning in the U.S. (Seriously, everyone within 3000 miles speaks at least some English, so you aren’t going to ever use it unless you work in a restaurant or landscaping business that hires lots of immigrants)
Most everyone learns some Spanish or French as a teen, but subsequently forgets it.
Dad and I went all over Europe in the 2000s, watching F1 races, and even in some pretty small towns most people knew a surprising amount of english.
It seems to be the unofficial second language. If a Spaniard speaks to an Italian theyll probably use English. In my experience.
But everywhere we went I would at least buy a phrasebook and make an effort.
Unless you’re in northeast Germany or well into the Bavarian countryside, it was hard to avoid English.
I think we should learn Spanish and French because parts or wholes of our neighboring countries speak them and it’s really cool. Portuguese was handy because we lived near “Little Azores” aka Fall River, MA. Plus foreign language learning in children develops their brains in different ways. I feel like we’d have way more respect for Canada and Mexico if we had that gateway.
Portuguese would have been quite handy. We had Spanish & French starting in 7th grade and German & Latin starting in 9th.
I went to a different school system for 6th and got a year of Latin there. So useful! (No, not at all. Take Spanish/French/Italian/Portuguese, or maybe Romanian instead!)
¡Ay! ¡Mi Espaniol no esta muy bueno!
So many birds here! Egrets, lots of egrets. There are egrets, great egrets, and bloody great egrets! Sorry, not sorry, just a terribad joke for LB.
No egerts!
That would make a good tattoo…
And of course, happy Thanksgiving for tomorrow!
Morning all. I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksliving!
1. I saw this gif this morning on Trixie’s Twitter and watched it repeatedly
2. There’s a reason she’s not known for her death drops
3. Katya cackling and seizing with laughter will never not be so best
The latest Trixie & Katya podcast with Harvey Guillen made me all sorts of happy because it was basically an hour of them fangirling over him and it’s pretty much how I would be if I ever met him.
I am saving that one for when I make pies today. I knew that one was going to be special, so why not pair it with something I love doing. I love it when they fangirl.
Good morning!
I like the new D pairings. Grizz has to be with Macavoy.
Spanish moss everywhere! Wow! This house! 5,000 sq ft, on a golf course, tv everywhere- even outdoors!
Watched USA vs Canada women last night. Great game!
Stripes, of course. I was lucky enough to ref a couple of Kendall Coyne Scofield’s games while she was at Berkshire School. Absolute lightning! I saw her score while killing a 5 on 3 power play, score 3 and set up 3 in two periods. Skills off the chart! So cool to see her star on the international stage. Also, a super nice kid.
Sweeeeeet! I’ve really enjoyed watching the NWHL/PHF the last few years, because so many of the Olympian women’s players jumped over. (Especially onto the Boston Pride in their first season or two.) It hasn’t been quite the same since many of them tried going independent in an attempt to make a living wage, but still a good product. I saw a couple PWHPA games on ESPN last year, and they were pretty good, but they are so low-profile, it’s hard to keep track of them.
Hiya,
Forbort has been a great pickup. Carlo’s been trying to play a more offensive game, I think. At least, that’s what Jack has been saying The two of them are worth a try as a pair.
More envelope stuffing for the charity today. Then darts game this evening. Busy day off!
Very pleased with Forbort. I was expecting more of a Kevan Miller type, but Forbort has more skill.
Stripes, getting the log in down!
Sis’s Favorite Player Forbort Because She Still Has No Clue Who Forbort Is
He is tall and he has 3 goals. That’s what I know.
And really, do you need to know anything else?
GH right now:
IW, right now:

Well I guess I’m getting myself a Forbort jersey!
And he wears 28. That is the last piece I know
I’m always excited when we sign a player I’ve heard of. My hockey knowledge outside of the Bs is woeful.
