The Boston Bruins played a game last night against the Vegas Golden Knights. They played a game but not very well. Of course, there were reasons why that might happen. Two of them might have been the two players placed in Covid protocol in quick succession yesterday morning: Craig Smith and Brad Marchand. Marchand reportedly tested positive after practice.
The Brad Marchand news is especially interesting in light of the fact that he took part in today’s morning skate.

This season the Bruins have already faced other teams without the Patrice Bergeron’s bestie, going 1-1-1 against the Red Wings (L), the Predators (W), and the Lightning (SO). But losing another top 6 forward at the same time is rough. The team would need to play well and have a little bit of luck.
As a result, the Bruins recalled both Jack Studnicka and Oskar Steen on an emergency basis.

But they didn’t use them last night.
Here’s how we’ll start it off tonight. pic.twitter.com/OvbaO3ANAg

Honestly, it was a rough go for the team. Jeremy Swayman was foiled by deflections. The team didn’t seem too involved with the game and by the end of the second period, after the Golden Knights had mercifully stopped scoring, I tuned out. Bergy would get a goal in the third but that effort was far shy of a full effort.
This team is hard to watch at times. It’s even harder to watch when Brad Marchand is out. Bruins lose 4-1.
The Bruins play again sometime soon but I can’t be bothered to scroll up to look right now.
