Morning Free Association: Luck? What’s That?

The Boston Bruins played a game last night against the Vegas Golden Knights. They played a game but not very well. Of course, there were reasons why that might happen. Two of them might have been the two players placed in Covid protocol in quick succession yesterday morning: Craig Smith and Brad Marchand. Marchand reportedly tested positive after practice.

This season the Bruins have already faced other teams without the Patrice Bergeron’s bestie, going 1-1-1 against the Red Wings (L), the Predators (W), and the Lightning (SO). But losing another top 6 forward at the same time is rough. The team would need to play well and have a little bit of luck.

As a result, the Bruins recalled both Jack Studnicka and Oskar Steen on an emergency basis.

But they didn’t use them last night.

Honestly, it was a rough go for the team. Jeremy Swayman was foiled by deflections. The team didn’t seem too involved with the game and by the end of the second period, after the Golden Knights had mercifully stopped scoring, I tuned out. Bergy would get a goal in the third but that effort was far shy of a full effort.

This team is hard to watch at times. It’s even harder to watch when Brad Marchand is out. Bruins lose 4-1.

The Bruins play again sometime soon but I can’t be bothered to scroll up to look right now.

Morning all. Crawling towards the renewal season finish line. The mental bandwith is really not there!

Morning all,

Well that was pretty crap. I guess they’ll throw in a couple of stinkers in an 82-game season, especially missing key players.

Ugh, Covid. It feels like we’re trending in the wrong direction. A friend of ours was taken to hospital yesterday with it, although he was discharged late last night, thankfully. Half Leah’s class either has it or is isolating. The girl who was standing next to her at their dance performance Saturday night has tested positive, too. Hopefully Leah still has immunity from when she had it late in the summer.

The weekender who has had Covid, still won’t wear a mask, and won’t get vaxxed has been sick on and off ever since, but swears it isn’t Covid… That shit is fake news

It looks like the NHL has a COVID breakout going on

So… at least 6 Hurricanes have COVID, they were in Vancouver on Sunday and Calgary on Thursday. At least 9 Flames players have COVID. At least 2 Canucks players have COVID. At least 2 Bruins have COVID, they were in Vancouver on Wednesday and Calgary on Saturday.

I’m guessing community spread in Calgary is the culprit? Sorry, don’t go to “The Keg” this week!

Last night, a Canuck actually got pulled from the game between periods because his PCR test came back positive after puck drop!

Good morning!
A trap game… coming home feeling good, losing a couple top 6 guys, no big….

Max Pacioretty… i wouldn’t send a dog out on a knight like that!

Regroup, fellas. Better luck next time

Disc golf with Jo yesterday… it was a thriller.. Jo had a birdie down the stretch to close within one, but i got a lucky bounce off a tree a squeezed it out. So much fun now that Jo’s game is so improved.. every game is tight!
