Just when you thought the Bruins were done with the Covid, more players and staff have entered the dreaded protocols. Before Tuesday game, Jake DeBrusk was sidelined by the virus. He’s had it and he’s been vaccinated, so no big deal other than he’s in the protocol until he isn’t. (I have no idea what the protocols are even anymore.)
On Wednesday, Tomas Nosek was added to the list along with another staff member. Previously 3 other staff had contracted the virus in the past week. On January 1st, Karson Kuhlman also tested positive.
It’s a bummer that Nosek will be away from the team since that 4th line is starting to heat up.
Tonight the Bruins sans Nosek face the Minnesota Wild at the Garden.
Yay!
Morning all. My cohost has not watched the new season of Cobra Kai.

Though to be fair, he had been knee deep in a Sopranos rewatch.
It’s taking me a bit to get used to work again, and in the time I’ve been away, I’ve had servers fail and my boss got promoted out of his current role, so there’s some sort of org changes coming down the road.
Waaaaaaahhhhhh… too much churn. Can not keep up.
COVID numbers in town have been at record highs for over a week.
Me: “Hmmm… I think I’d like to go pick up a doughnut for breakfast”
Dept of Health: “We know that at least 2% of the town has COVID right this minute.”
Me: “Coldcerealisjustfinethankyouverymuch”
A couple of my co-workers have gotten it. One got a moderate case, another has minimal symptoms.
Vermont numbers are wicked high. Killington had an outbreak with 84 staff getting Covid. I know 6 people off the top of my head who have it here in the Valley.
It’s certainly been nice to go out and not have to worry about it the last week or so. Not that I HAVE been out much! I still mask up and keep my distance out of courtesy, of course.
Our government has decided to end the requirement to have a negative test to come into the UK. It makes sense really – everyone has already got it so no point trying to keep it out! I don’t know many people who haven’t either had it themselves or someone in their immediate family has had it.
Yup, Vermont numbers are up. Hibernation time!
Good morning,
I’m pretty sure I have a case of post holiday poopedness. Three syllables, pronounce them all. I haven’t done a thing for days. I don’t feel like doing anything today. Is this hibernation?
Matt Boldy and Marco Rossi will make their NHL debuts tonight versus the Bruins….. so you know they are giving up at least two goals!.. :-0
Any wildlife round your way now? We came downstairs the other morning and there were two foxes asleep in the garden!
The porcupine was at the other place, right?
The porcupine is our most common visitor in Monroe. I’ve been keeping an eye out for our early morning visitor. It’s been eating the garage across the street to get at beetles, etc. Porcupine is supposed to be delicious!
I’d heard that there were porcupines in New England, but have never heard of anyone who’d actually seen one. Haven’t seen much interesting wildlife out here lately, though I did see a large bird land on a rotten branch high up in my neighbor’s tree a couple of days back. (It looked like a blue heron from a distance but maybe could have been a turkey) The branch broke off and a 3-foot long log came crashing to the ground. It was pretty cool, as the log bounced off a sapling on the way down and hit the hillside with a satisfying *THUMP*.
The bird did not hang around too long after that.
I know there are porcupines in Maine because my brother’s first Samoyed (RIP Sparky) got quilled not once but twice! He wasn’t a very smart dog. Removing the quills takes a particular amount of time, care, and talent.
Samoyeds are Leah’s favourite breed. You’d think he’d have learned the first time! Are they known for not being very smart?
I don’t think it’s breed standard to be as dumb as Sparky was. He had papers and had a lineage as Aubrey, Son of Yanos. Yeah, my brother changed his name. Sparky was sweet but not so bright. Samys are very trainable so that suggests that they’re smart. One of my fave social media dogs is Maya Polar Bear. I bet Leah would love her.
Oh, and they’re supposed to be sled dogs so that also suggests that they’re pretty smart although very hyper. Sparky was a big boy but could still glide along the snow.
Oh Leah will love that!
SatanDog (sheltie) cracks me up. She’s wicked smart but when it’s something she doesn’t want to do, she is so good at playing dumb.
I see porcupines often here! Rarely before the move
Morning all,
frosty one this morning here. When Sis said the other day it was 0 degrees it took me a while to realise she meant 0F! That’s like -20 in my language! I think maybe -6 or -8 is the coldest I’ve ever seen it here.
We must be at the point where there aren’t many players who haven’t had it yet – certainly within the Bs. Hopefully that means we can enjoy a run of health when spring comes. Who knows?
Yeah, it went down to 3° here. Plenty cold and plenty more to come. We get snow tonight. It looks like zero Monday night and -11° Tuesday night! Let’s hope that forecast changes!
-11°F ?
Yack!! I could do without that. Glad I stocked up on stove chow.
