Last night the Bosdton Bruins lost a very winnable game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Had the Bruins come out of the first intermission able to hit anything other than a post, that would have been great. Also, if they could have smacked Sidney Crosby across his ugly mug after he tripped Patrice into the boards, that would have been great. But like we’ve seen from this team this season, they don’t really go after opposing players who do them wrong.

Has Brad had enough by the end of the game when he punched Tristan Jarry then got him with his stick on his way to a roughing and Game Misconduct for “Attempting to Injure”? Who knows? While I didn’t like Brad returning to his fiery rat nature, I also couldn’t blame him. We Taureans really get heated and just let it fly when we’ve had too much.

Brad and Tristan had been having issues all game long. But I’m a homer, so fuck Tristan Jarry.

Pasta scored 2, former Bruin Danton Heinen scored 2 as well. And shitbag Sidney Crosby scored his 499th goal, the eventual game winner in the second on a power play. After an empty netter in the third, the Bruins lost 4-2.
Whatever.
That was not what turned my mood on the evening, however. It was this:
Tuukka Rask is not expected to continue his comeback attempt with the Boston Bruins, sources tell @FlutoShinzawa.
Rask may reportedly "finalize his retirement decision in the next few days."https://t.co/t1hykRvN8O
— The Athletic (@TheAthletic) February 9, 2022
This dropped at 8:08pm, just after the second period had started. I wasn’t prepared to have to deal with the end of Tuukka Rask’s career during a game in which he wasn’t playing.
Fluto writes that Tuukka is dealing with pain and discomfort from his surgically repaired hip. He re-injured his hip in the game against the Hurricanes on January 24th, the one in which he allowed 5 goals in the first. Even though he dressed as backup at Colorado, he never dressed again for a game.
Tuukka will discuss his future with his family and may make a statement about his retirement this week. For now, he is on IR.
So, yeah, that’s why I’m in a shitty mood. Happy fucking Wednesday everyone.
Sorry guys for the bad mood but I don’t want to be Pollyanna.
I have feelings and I do express them on occasion in ways that are not humorous. Too much went wrong last night for me to be tongue-in-cheek. In the matter of one game, the Bruins may have lost their bid at Wild Card 1, which is the only playoff position that allows them to elude the meatgrinder of the Atlantic. Bergy is likely out for tomorrow and thanks to his temper, Brad will be as well.
No, it’s fine. it’s no good bottling feelings up.
It was pretty much of a disaster for the Bs, especially considering they might well have won. Could almost say they should have won.
Still it’s only a couple of years since all the top seeds went out in the first round of the playoffs. Anything can still happen!
This is a great place to. vent feelings. We all ove you here!
Morning all. Crawling towards the finish line of my third 6 day work week. It’s why I said I couldn’t Zoom this week. I know I won’t have the mental or physical bandwith for it.
Gah! In the land of the free they certainly make you work bloody hard for your freedom.
I like the idea of a Zoom but my body clock is shifted the other way at the moment! Would be nice to see some of you – it’s been a while!
I did reward myself by buying a Dolly Parton sweatshirt!
So, how about this controversy over the women’s ski jump suits? Maybe everyone shoud have to jump naked, men and women. Advantage to those with love handles!
LB is probably in the know about it, but here’s a link
Ooh, I hadn’t seen that!
I DID see there was a controversy about ski lengths. If you’re below a certain weight you have to use shorter skis. Some jumpers were using too long skis for their weight.
Seems like the ski jumping rule makers are a bit full of themselves. Just jump! Longest wins!
That really sucks. It smells a little like home cooking from the host country TBH. (that’s a lot of athletes to suddenly disqualify, and a curiously elite group)
I can’t imagine that the level of stuff they’re measuring could have any measurable effect on a ski jump run.
The Chinese hate Japan (and vice versa) so not surprising they wanted to eliminate Takanashi
Ok, I feel a bit bad now for an upbeat post but here goes:
Grease was great. The kids worked really hard on it and it showed. Tbh it was a relief just for something like that to go ahead as planned. Leah has had so many things cancelled at the last minute over the last two years everyone was a bit on edge. She really enjoyed it too. Two more performances (tonight and tomorrow).
Got up at 5.45 this morning (ridiculously early by my standards) to watch Olympic skiing. It was the womens slalom skiing. If you dont know, in slalom they do two runs. If you’re fastest after the second run, you wait at the bottom and see if anyone can beat your time.
Maybe my favourite thing about the Olympics is seeing people who’ve worked for a year or more achieving something they only get the chance to do every four years.
The last four skiers on the hill all made mistakes on their second run, and seeing looks on the faces of the three waiting at the bottom as, one at a time, they realised they were going to get a medal was pretty special! Who’s chopping onions?!
Watched Russia v Switzerland in the mens hockey this morning. Either the Russians are poor or the Swiss were good! RUS won 1-0 but Swiss shouldve won it. Hit the post three times!
Over.
Glad to hear Grease was a success! And yes, definitely great they were able to do something fun. Much needed these days! I feel horrible for kids during this pandemic with all the things they’ve had cancelled and milestones they couldn’t celebrate. They deserve all the fun things!
Good to hear that Grease went off without a hitch.
I caught the Super-G competition. It was fun to watch, though they had a lot of competitors. All of the favorites got their runs in fairly early and then sat around being interviewed as if they had won medals while waiting for 25 other competitors to go in order to make sure they were actually going to win,
Haha, yeah in the speed events where they only do one run the best 30 skiers go first, then they usually do a podium ceremony after the 30th, while the higher numbers get on with it.
Four years ago Bib 26 won the womens Super G, when I think they may have already called the result (she got to keep the gold of course!)
Never apologise for an upbeat post! Just because my mood is dark doesn’t mean everyone’s should be.
That’s great for Little Bear. I hope she enjoys all these performances and more!
Opening oneself up to a probable multi-game suspension seems like a disproportionate response to this
If he’d taken a shot at Crosby after the trip on Bergy, it would make more sense to me.
I thought that was really stupid of Marchand tbh. He’s gonna miss what, five games because of that (unless DPoS adopts the Tom Wilson rule!) and for what? Ok he was provoked but Brad has a PhD in provocation. And Bergy may have to miss games too. Not good, not smart.
I know they cant let people get away with cheap shots but that wasn’t the time or the way to do it.
This is Forbert’s job!
DPoS was actually a type but I guess it still works!
I did love him denying Jarry on the puck giveaway. He should have tossed it over himself, though.
Days we miss Kevan Miller!
Not so Good Morning!
Hard to see what happened when Crosby tripped Bergy. This is not the first time that B rad has had to be the guy who steps up. No good. As far as Tuukka goes, maybe he just came back too soon? I heard the decision is not final yet so continue to be Mr Hopelessly Cautiously Optimistic.
Woohoo! The temp went above freezing yesterday!!! Even warmer today. We will go outside!!!
It’s like a spring day here. 13C! Meant to have a few chilly nights this week though.
I was joking with my boss’s brother that it was margaritas on the porch weather!
We are thinking of wine by an outdoor fire later!
