Have you ever watched a hockey game and swore that the two teams had switched bodies just before the game started? Because the way the two teams were playing last night, or rather how one team was playing in comparison to the other, made it seem that way.
First, Patrice Bergeron took a puck to his schnozz in warmups. He bled onto his sweater. So very Bruins.

Then the 1972 Stanley Cup winning team was honoured prior to the game.
What an honor to have this legendary bunch in the building. 👏 pic.twitter.com/pUIQVbTUWB

So if you’re counting, that is two “uh-ohs” for this game.
Then, the first period happened and it wasn’t all bad. Despite getting his mask clipped early and almost leaving the game, Linus Ullmark made some great saves and kept the Senators scoreless.
Linus Ullmark took a slap shot square off the mask in the first. Finished the period, but went to the bench briefly for a chat with assistant trainer Joe Robinson.

It’s a good thing, too, since this defense is looking rough without regular top 4 D like Hampus Lindholm and Brandon Carlo.
On the other side of the rink, first years Marc McLaughlin and Jesper Froden lit the lamp.

Then, the second started with a new netminder. Poor Jeremy Swayman is having a difficult back half of his first season. Seriously, it’s like he’s in his sophomore slump just a little early. He let one by from Brady Tkachuk within 47 seconds. The two powerplay goals by Josh Norris and Tim Stützle came from two weak or bad calls which resulted in a Sens 2-man advantage. Mike Reilly was called for a very weak hi-stick (which Brady Tkachuk embellished) at 8:39. Then at 8:46, Patrice Bergeron was called for a hook, one which simply didn’t happen.
Patrice Bergeron whistled for "a hook." We'll be on a 5-on-3 kill for 1:53.

No further scoring past the half of the period and the Bruins went into intermission down 3-2. Not good.
And then they played a better third period, stop the bleeding, but failed to score more goals. They drop their third in a row.
Some Points:
The Bruins are awful on the powerplay since Pasta’s been out. They should just decline penalties. They can’t but if they could, they should.
The B’s are almost at critical mass with regards to injuries. This time it’s a goalie.
The Bruins are killing themselves with penalties, real and perceived. Two call for Too Much Man. SMH.
Bag skate tomorrow before a huge manatee game against the Penguins on Saturday.
Rob Halford for the win!
Nice! Love that he named the first one Taylor
Awesome!
Today is Big Stupid Dance Party on Uncertain FM!

Ooh, thanks, I’ll put that on while I work.
Who the hell are the Dee Gees?!
I don’t know. But they have an album called “Hail Satin” and now I love them.
That was me. The site has been uncooperative for me today.
Dee Gee’s are a Foo Fighters side project.
Oh wow – I had to check on that because I genuinely couldn’t tell if you were being serious or not!
And now he’s gotten into the traditional Goth set for a couple: Killing Joke, Sisters of Mercy.
April is turning out to be a good month for pop culture, emphasis maybe on the pop part.
Don’t worry, it’s on YouTube the next day!
Morning all. I’ve been a disaster in the kitchen this week. Burnt two dinners! Fortunately it’s been warm enough to have windows open to let the smoke out!
Oh no! Yeah, our smoke alarm is more like a “someone’s cooking” alarm.
Mmmm! Charcoal flavor!
Morning all,
Ughhhh what’s going on with this team? What the hell’s happened to the powerplay? Surely Pasta wasn’t that integral to it?
Manatee tomorrow, eh? I might try to catch that live. Dad is here, as he brought Leah back yesterday from her week with grandparents & cousins. We are going to a local wildlife park, where I sponsor one of the vultures – although their main business is looking after rescued huskies. That should be fun!
The wildlife park sounds fascinating. Local wildlife? Exotic wildlife? I read Isabella Tree’s book Wilding, about the West Sussex Knepp Woodland Project… Great read.
Just been looking into that book – it does look a good read.
I think this park is going to be fairly small. They have mostly rescue animals, I think, but they’ve got the huskies, birds of prey, meerkats and alpacas. Probably some others – we’ll find out!
Oh cool, that sounds like a fun place to go!
A lot of parks are going to rescue animals rather than send Clyde Beatty out to capture animals that are just fine where they are.
Good morning,
Nothing is looking good for the boys who could not lose just a couple weeks ago. No worries. Rest ’em, get ’em healthy. It’s unlikely that the playoff rankings will change. The Bruins should try to hurt players on other teams… starting Saturday.
Half a day of demolition yesterday, then accompanied Jo to her doctor visit… her first in Mass. She was nervous. Finally had our Valentine’s dinner date in Greenfield. Great farm to table place called Hope and Olive. Highly recommended.
I’m sure there was a season a few years where they went completely off the boil late in the regular season but then got it back together for the playoffs. Hopefully this is like that, though we could do with not losing a top-line player every match.
Great stuff. It was the 14th of the month – that’s close enough!
Every day should be Valentine’s Day…. and Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Siblings Day… The world shouldn’t need Hallmark to remind us. Life is so busy, it’s easy to forget.
I second this!
