David Pastrnak and Hampus Lindholm were back in the lineup last night against the Fancy Cats, who were in town for the first time since the trade deadline. Why is that important? Well, both teams made some important moves: the B’s acquired the rights and quickly signed their top pairing LD for now and the future in Lindholm and the already strong Panthers traded for former Flyers captain Claude Giroux. So how did it go?
The Panthers and the B’s each had little to play for other than pride. With the Hurricanes playing the Rangers tonight, a Canes win would allow them to clinch the Metropolitan as well as seal the deal for a Bruins-Canes first-round matchup. Carolina held off a late surge by the Rags to win 4-3. With the Panthers clinching the number 1 seed in the East and home ice throughout the playoffs, all they need is more points to claim the Presidents trophy.

When the Panthers struck first near the halfway point of the first it was easy to fear that their high powered offense would take over the game. But, that didn’t happen. It took nearly 9 minutes after that for Erik Haula to even it up with the help of his linemates Taylor Hall and Pasta.

Then off the faceoff, Taylor Hall took a pass from Pasta and broke away down the ice.

Then it got chippy. Each side lost two guys during the scrum that erupted after the Bruins scored twice. Joe Thornton and Patric Hornqvist for Florida and Tomas Nosek and Derke Forbort for Boston all went to the box.

Then Brandon Carlo slashed Anthony Duclair at 19:50 putting the Bruins at a particular disadvantage with two of their best penalty killers in the box at the same time. Of course Sam Reinhart scored the tying goal with 0.4 seconds to go.
In the second, Jake DeBrusk put the Bruins up by one. Spoiler alert: it would be the game winner.

In the third Brad Marchand, who has been in a goal scoring drought, finally got one to go in on the empty net.

Final: Bruins beat the Panthers, 4-2.
A stout defensive performance from Boston against a high-powered Panthers offense.

After the game, Bruce Cassidy said that he will play all the regulars on Thursday night against the Sabres but he use a “lighter squad” on Friday in the final regular season game.
Went out to spend a lil time in the garden, driven back inside by sleet! WTF?
Morning all.
Conly wednesday… but you have a show to look forward to tonight, no?
Yup, do have the show tonight! And there’s been some big drama at the station recently!

He has a point, tbf! Do you know the guy?
I don’t. Then again, my cohost and I are pretty much there just to goof around so we stay outside of the drama!
Hang in there, Sis. Over the hump
Good morning!
I think it’s fair to say that last night was more important for the Bs than it was for the fancy cats. Still, a solid performance up and down the line up. Bruins – Canes in round 1… okay.

er Matthews got his 59th and 60th.. Toronto needed a kid from Phoenix for that to happen.
No return visit from whoever took down the birdfeeder.. probably time to let them fend for themselves, though.
Ughhhh. Hate to be a pessimist but I’ll settle for not getting swept in that series.
Just for balance, though, I’ll say that if the Bs do manage to win it will give them a belief that they can go all the way.
Hey, it’s the playoffs – who’d have believed Columbus would beat Tampa a few years ago?
I think the Bruins can handle that speed/forecheck system that Carolina plays. Forget the regular season. The playoffs are so different! I feel that one power play goal would get it rolling for Boston…. and watch out for B rad. Only an empty netter, but it’s probably enough to get him going.
