Going into Friday nights game, I was worried and pessimistic. Having seen the first two efforts by the Bruins in Raleigh helped me to form a bad attitude about what the B’s could do and I feared that they were going to get swept out of the playoffs. That didn’t happen. In fact, the opposite did and now the series is tied up.
I’m not going to go full depth into the games other than to point out a couple of things. The B’s special teams play ruled the game. First it was Charlie Coyle’s short-handed goal to tie up the game and open up the Bruins confidence. After Brad Marchands even strength goal, the powerplay came to life thanks to David Pastrnak and Taylor Hall.
Jeremy Swayman tended goal and was fronted by a slightly different lineup. With Hampus Lindholm still out after being knocked out of Wednesday nights game, Mike Reilly stepped into top LD aside McAvoy, with Matt Grzelcyk and Brandon Carlo being reunited in the second pair. Trent Frederic was replaced by Tomas Nosek on the third line, with Curtis Lazar sliding over to center and old pal Chris Wagner joining the fourth line. It went pretty well.

And the B’s starting getting under the Canes’ skin, notably antagonizing both (racist) Tony DeAngelo and (noted jerkface) Brendan Smith.

On Sunday, the team announced just prior to puck drop that Charlie McAvoy was placed in Covid protocol making him unavailable for Game 4 and Game 5. He didn’t practice on Saturday so no one outside the Bruins medical staff knows for sure when the 5 day period will end. His absence made the Grizz-Carlo pairing the top one with Mike Reilly- Josh Brown the third. Still it was Connor Clifton who led all D in TOI with 20:16.
Once the Bruins started playing their game, it was easy to overcome the small lead the Hurricanes took twice in the game. Jake DeBrusk worked hard on the PP to score the tying goal in the second. Rod Brind’Amour didn’t like the way it looked and challenged for goaltender interference only to earn his team a bench penalty. Shortly after, Sebastian Aho did this to Patrice Bergeron:

Bergy tried to come back and finish his shift but the refs sent him to the room for repairs. He was back in the third.

The third was all Bruins, taking the lead and never letting it go.
One of the best things about the game was Brad Marchand making Tony DeAngelo lose his mind. I love that Brad was repeatedly reminding him that he’s racist.
It’s pretty funny how after he’s done telling DeAngelo he’s racist, Marchand turns to the ref and says “he is”. https://t.co/OZrkg8Zdg1

And when Marchy scored his second on the game on the empty net, DeAngelo should his true unsportsmanlike nature.

We have a series! Next game is tomorrow night at 7pm.
Oof, look at this.
Instagram is blocked at work.
And I’m anonymously at work.
Wow!
I’m always amazed there aren’t more pucks in the face.
Don’t think i can watch that vid… might bring back nightmares
Morning all. I saw someone joke on Twitter that a goal, assist, and calling someone a racist should be called a rat trick.
I am all in favor of this.
I thought you had to actually get an opposing player to contemplate retirement to get a rat trick?
I am rooting for Louis Domingue! I love how Pittsburgh has embraced him…. restaurants are offering the Domingue Special, spicy pork and broccoli. His unflappable, goofball nature makes him easy to like.
I remember him playing for the Springfield Falcons 7 or 8 years ago.. Arizona affiliate at the time, as i recall.
Domingue does seem like a pretty fun guy. Saw some of his foodie clips last week.
Good
Great morning,

Woohoo! Went up to the inn to watch yesterday…. awaesome! I love how the Bs made DeAngelo lose his mind. Lazar made my day with the “What the fuck are you doing?” remark.. true toughness, taking one for the team there.. The wheel play for Pasta’s goal was outstanding. No one has figured how to defend that, yet. It’s a series now and game 5 is key.
Backyard has exploded with life. A flock of Rose Breasted Grosbeaks has taken over the bird feeder, Orioles and Hummingbirds arrived on the 5:45 Friday, and it’s getting warm!!!
Everything’s coming up roses!
I thought of you this weekend. The newest Trixie & Katya “Two Queens Who Like to Watch” was them watching the final season of Grace & Frankie! It does spoil the final season in case you avoid spoilers.

Oh, thanks! Spoiler won’t bother me in thix case… but do i tell Jo?
Well, well, well.
I love this stage of a series where the two teams have got a good handle on each other, and some personal rivalries have started to boil over.
Looks like the change of tactics has worked. Yesterday’s game was I think the first time this year I’ve seen the Bruins properly outmuscle an opponent. I only saw the highlights of Game Three but I hear that was a physical one, too.
You could say the Bs were lucky to get so many PP opportunities but sometimes you make your own luck. The Canes only got so many penalties because they were clearly irritated. Good, keep it up!
sometimes you make your own luck.
Yes, sir! Discipline!
Can;t believe DeAngelo didn’t get a 10-minute misconduct after having a go at Lazar. But at the same time, hope he doesn’t get any supplemental punishment – he’s making the Canes worse in this mood!
The more minutes DeAngelo plays, the better! I wonder what the racist accusation is about… if DeAngelo hates French Canadiens, he might wind up on the wrong end of the stick…. lots of French Canadien refs! I’m thinking B rad may have been sticking up for Bergy, if he heard derisive comments…. just guessing, admittedly.
Found this online:
“However, the racists chirp from Brad Marchand dates back to DeAngelo’s junior hockey days when was suspended twice during his junior career in the OHL, for violating the league’s policy covering “homophobic, racist, and sexist language” and abuse of officials.
Tony DeAngelo also became a large advocate for the false claims that Donald Trump actually won the 2020 Presidential Election over now-President Joe Biden. He constantly retweeted Qanon theories and claims as well and supported the events on Jan. 6, 2021. In addition to that, he claimed that COVID was just a big ‘media scare’”

Basically, he seems like a lovely human being!
Basically, he seems like a lovely human being!
Thanks for the research on that. Leopards don’t change their spots real often, if you get my drift.
And this is reportedly his burner account.
For an “NYR Fan” he doesn’t seem to like them very much, but he does post a lot about the Hurricanes …
He got run out of the Rags when he picked a fight with Georgiev and reportedly dropped an “N-bomb” at K’andre Miller. The GM just lost it and booted him as soon as this stuff leaked out.
Whoa! What century is this man living in? Whenever it is, he has lots of company… sad
The Canes are apparently one of the teams that spends the most time in the box, so if we had to play them, it’s a good thing we got them in round one, when penalty calls are similar to the regular season!
