Last night’s game in Pittsburgh was a rollercoaster full or frights and thrills and ultimately exhilarating. For a long period of time, it was not a sure thing that the Bruins could pull off a win. But a surprise return, actually two, made the difference in a win and a loss.
The game started out very quickly, and poorly, for the Bruins when Sidney Crosby lit the lamp 30 seconds in. It took the Bruins 5+ minutes to right the ship and get on the board, Coyle from Frederic and Greer.
Make it goals in three straight games for Charlie Coyle.
Good netfront drive from Frederic.
1-1 game.

At 13:20, Jakub Lauko scored his first official goal in the NHL.

Late in the period, David Pastrnak was penalized for goaltender interference for knocking Tristan Jarry down in his crease even though it looks like he was pushed by a Pens player. This might inform the next period.
Then the game turned in the second. Derek Forbort was counted out with an UBI. The Penguins scored four unanswered from Evgeni Malkin, Josh Archibald, Bryan Rust, and Rikard Rakell. Linus Ullmark was pulled and the team took a timeout. Patrice Bergeron seemed to score but it was negated due to–you guessed it–goaltender interference. When Jeff Petry went for hooking Pasta, Brad Marchand scored on the power play making the score 5-3.

After 14 minutes in goal between the second and third periods, Jeremy Swayman left the game after Patrice Bergeron slid into him and he appeared to hyperextend his knee. Bergy was noticeably and justifiably upset. Linus Ullmark replaced him in net.
Pavel Zacha deflected a shot by Hampus Lindholm to make it 5-4.

Ullmark saved every shot in regulation from his reinstatement. After he was pulled, Taylor Hall tied up the game.

On to overtime. Hampus Lindholm goes for tripping Evgeni Malkin. The Bruins kill the penalty. Hampus Lindholm wins the game after leaving the box.

Lindholm had 4 points on the night, 1-3–4. He factored in each of the last 4 goals. And he was the number one star of the night.
Ullmark was perfect in his return.
I hope that Swayman is not too injured. Matt Porter had a preliminary report, by no means a real update.
No update on Swayman or Forbort, but Swayman was walking around with ice on his left knee. No crutches

I’m not sure if you know that I’m in love with Hampus Lindholm. I am.
Hampus Lindholm has all the attributes any red blooded person so inclined would desire.
Is this why HAMPUS LINDHOLM IN ALL CAPS is my twitter trending box?
YES
Morning all.
Loving meth bear as the Winter Classic logo. Sign me up for a My Favorite Player Derek Forbort meth bear jersey!
Morning,
Fantastic comeback. Remember when the Bruins were cooked if they went two goals down? Different team this year.
NHLtv is playing games with me. Would only let me watch a replay with French commentary, then it decided I didnt need to see most of the first period, including Lauko’s first NHL goal.
Been for an eye test this morning. Clean bill of health. Don’t need to change glasses for the first time ever!
That game was on ESPN instead of local coverage. IDK if that changes what NHL.tv does with it.
Good job on not worsening eye health. I would be rather upset if my prescription had continued to deteriorate – I like seeing & such.
Try not to end up in any Twilight Zone episodes!
Would only let me watch a replay with French commentary,
Ooh, la la.
Good morning!
Wow! What a game! We watched the first period of the Caps game, then switched to the Bruins. After the Bs first, we went back to the Caps as my brother hasn’t seen live hockey, even on tv for awhile..(he lives in a cave). We missed the period that once had no name, yay, but saw all of the comeback. My goalie friend says Sway will be sore for a bit, but looked like no major damage.. says he’s had that happen, albeit with older, slower players. Really thought that was a trap game..
Entertaining my drunk ass brother for a few days. Homey can put it away, Holy Jesus! Gonna try to keep him busy lumberjacking and fishing. You know, chainsaws, canoes, and beer… what could possibly go wrong?
The Pens have been totally different team on home ice this season. Fair play to the lads for not giving up.
Have fun with Bro. At least we’re not playing the Caps soon!
Got to watch the Caps lose in ot. Tried hard not to smile.
Man that game was intense. I was all “can’t we have more period breaks?”
The period that once had no name was a good one to miss – there was a bullet shot from afar that just landed in Ullmark’s net, a play where 3 Bruins were hovering around one spot near their blue line like a bunch of 5 year olds playing soccer – curiously the Pens found a way to score. A goal that was called back for interference (It was a righteous call – Bergy got his skate tangled in Jarry’s leg). For 12+ minutes, it was just ugly.
Hoping that Swayman is good to play soon. That looked ugly.
