Morning Free Association: Goalied

Cam Talbot has played for 6 teams in his 11 year career: 2 with the NYR, 4 with EDM, 4 games with the Flyers, 1 with the Flames, 2 with the Wild, and finally this season in Ottawa. It’s sometimes difficult to remember that Talbot can be a really good goalie until you see him put up a performance like last nights game which he held back 49 of 51 shots, 27 of them in the third period alone.

To be fair, the Bruins looked pretty lifeless through much of the game, struggling to score a second goal after the Senators took the lead for the second time. Whether it was holiday hangover or travel day malaise I cannot tell you. But this is the second time they’ve played the Senators in around Ottawa and the second time they’ve walked away with a loss. At least they got a point this time.

The goal of the night was this first one from Jake DeBrusk well into the second period.

It only took some 3 minutes for the Senators to retake the lead and more than 20 game minutes for the Bruins to tie it up in the third.

Jeremy Swayman did not win the goalie duel but he was 30-32. He made some great, timely saves.

Alas, the game would go to the skills competition and I’m afraid that our gassed boys had no more game in them. Ottawa takes it 3-2.

Tonight, the Bruins will play the Devils. I'm sure that will go well.

Morning all.

I’ve had November Rain stuck in my head. And I still love the “hey why don’t you launch yourself into the cake” part of the video.

Love the song but I’ve always been baffled as to why a sudden rain shower causes the wedding guests to go crazy and at some point presumably kill the bride somehow? Unless I’ve misunderstood the narrative.

I think the whole narrative of the video was “we have big budget for this so let’s film a whole bunch of crazy stuff!” lol

Good morning,
Cam Talbot was superhuman last night. I thought the Bs generated a lot of offense early, but Talbot was up to the task. Quite the goalie duel as Swayman was no slouch, either.
Hopefully, they can take their frustrations out on Jersey.
Puppy dogs require a lot of attention! Guapo Diablo is a great dog. He has just the right amount of mischief in him. Once he’s exhausted all that energy, he loves to snuggle. He’s spending a lot of time on my lap. Keeps you warm, but seated.

Aww, what type of dog is Guapo?

Guapo is a miniature schnauser. One year old, but pretty mellow for his age.

Guapo Diablo is the best dog name ever.

The name really suits him. Definitely some devil in that dog.
In Boston, Guapo has a pee pad (looks like grass) out on the balcony to do his business. The cue is “do you need grass?”… when we go outside here there’s only snow and ice. He runs around and looks at me like “where’s the fuckin’ grass? I gotta go!” Eventually, he picks a random spot.

Yeah, I was really disappointed they didn’t cash in on that first period. The official shot totals for the first were missing a bunch of Bruin SOG. Talbot was having quite a night. The Bruins looked pretty tired toward the end of the third.

He sounds like an amazing doggie house guest

Morning,

what a fantastic exhibition of goalie skills that was!

the Bruins looked pretty lifeless through much of the game

I’m not sure I’d go that far. In the past, they’ve had a lot of games where their attacks are frustrating “one and done” efforts but this year a lot of their entries result in a number of chances, and last night was no exception. It was just a shame that a lot of them ended with Ottawa getting a good chance on the counter.

Alas, the game would go to the skills competition and I’m afraid that our gassed boys had no more game in them

I do believe none of the three attempts were shots on target. Gassed, yes, but you’ve got to at least put it on net.

Oh, why did it take so long for them to decide Bergy’s goal was offside. It was obvious! Close, yes, but clearly offside from every angle.

It’s the first post-Christmas bin day today, so of course it’s blowing a gale! Obviously I’ve got no idea what day it actually is, but as I got up early to watch a replay the game I heard the rubbish-truck outside and had time to take the bins out!

Way back, when we lived in CT, i would wake to the rubbish truck backing down a neighboring side street… from there, the race was on! Almost 200 feet from our door to the pick up point. I did that race half dressed many times!

Haha – having a 15-foot driveway does have its advantages!

I’ve got no chance on the trash pickup race. We’re the 10th house on the route, so the truck shows up at 7am, and is only 2 homes away by the time I hear it. Then it’s 300 feet to drag the bins. I’ve gotten to within sight of the truck on a couple of occasions just to underscore my failure. lol
