This team, this fucking team. When you think they’re out after playing a sluggish game and only taking 17 shots through three periods, they pull you back in and win. It was obvious who needed the two points more but the better team won in the end, in sudden death.
Dmitry Orlov scored the first two goals of the game, both in the first period.

Make that two goals — and four total points — in Dmitry Orlov's first seven periods of hockey with the Bruins.

By the end of the period, they had scored two goals on five shots knocking old friend Dan Vladar out of the net for the second. Jacob Markstrom took over for the remainder of the game.
The Bruins allowed 19 shots in the first and were only in it because Linus Ullmark is on his game.
In the second, Blake Coleman drove the puck past Ullmark. But, then Ully kept making great saves despite his team in front of him playing pretty poorly.
oooh man initially looked like grand larceny from Ullmark but the replay shows it's the post denying Lucic his 6th of the season pic.twitter.com/8vQdPxUbGE

By the end of the second, Ullmark had made more saves (38) than he has in a game all season. Okay that’s not true because his total at the end of the game would be that. Meanwhile, the B’s managed to take four more shots on goal.
The third is when things took a turn and the Bruins eventually woke up from their sleepwalk. Dillon Dube and Jonathan Huberdeau both scored before the middle of the period to tie up the game and take the lead, respectively. Jack Edwards tried to tempt fate with some factoid about the Flames not coming from behind to win a game in regulation and everyone was pissed.
But then Dmitry Orlov and Pavel Zacha tied it up before the end of regulation. It helped that Jake DeBrusk took out two Flames players in a collision.
Jake DeBrusk gets crushed, Dmitry Orlov with the nice pass and Pavel Zacha with the finish.

This game would go to overtime where after many good attempts, Charlie McAvoy (from Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron) won the game with 4.3 seconds on the clock.

Ullmark faced 57 shots and saved 54. The Bruins final tally was 20 in 4 periods.
Due to unfortunate hit, Uncle Nick was unable to give Ully the hugs before Swayman.

Morning all.
Lots of sunshine this morning though the clouds have made a return.
Beautiful day in the hilltowns!
Morning!
Busy day, so I watched the highlights before I got. How did they win that game?!
Forwards not producing, defence apparently not doing their thing either given how the shot clock was racing.
Crazy stuff.
In the office today. Pub later for darts.
That game was hard to watch – the Bruins played passable hockey for a few minutes, got a couple of goals on a total of 4 shots thanks to a goalie whose confidence is shot, then sleepwalked through the next 40 minutes, started playing a little better once the Flames tied it up, and snuck into OT.
I hope the skaters get their mojo back, the next few games are not easy ones.
Good morning,
Holy Schnikees! How many different ways to win are there? The Bruins keep finding new ways to do it. I hear that the RCMP is looking for Linus Ullmark… something about grand larceny. Dimitry Orlov appears to be fitting in okay…
Very excited to see Jorma Kaukonen tonight. Dude can pick it.
Oh yeah, Kane to the Rags…
Gavrikov to the Kings
Pulijarvi to the ‘Canes – seems like a strange move when you have 10 million in cap space
Luke Schenn and Eric Gustafson to the Leafs
Eastern Conference playoffs are going to be crazy!
Kings got Korpisalo, as well.
Ekholm to the Oilers
Nyquist to the Wild
Old friend Marcus Johannson to the Wild
Glad to see Nyquist going to a team that the Bruins will not be likely to see in the playoffs – he’s got a weird knack of finding the back of the Bruins net.
The Kings move confused me a little, but then I looked closer – their goaltending has been sub-par, and Korpisalo has been fine, and he’s 28, not 37, and he costs ~$1.3M vs the cap as opposed to $5.8M for Quick. They aren’t gonna be able to extend Gavrikov, but Korpisalo is an upgrade across the board.
When I heard the Bruins were looking for LHD, Ekholm was one of the guys I was interested in seeing (of course he had term on his contract and was pricey, so not realistic)
The Leafs really are “all in”.
So right re Nyquist. 9 goals, 7 assists in 30 games vs the Bs. He’s been less productive against them since he went to Columbus, bringing his ppg vs the Bs down some.
Jon Quick ain’t his former self and Copley isn’t ready for prime time.
The Leafs and Rags are both all in. Good thing the Bs only have to takd ’em on one at a time!
